Tom Hiddleston Jokes Vision’s Return In WandaVision Is A Loki Move

Tom Hiddleston jokes Vision’s mysterious resurrection in WandaVision is more of a Loki move. After all this time, Marvel’s Disney+ era is finally about to begin. On Friday, WandaVision will make its long-awaited debut on the streaming platform, and anticipation is at an all-time high. The series stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as titular couple Wanda Maximoff and Vision as they achieve what they’ve always wanted: Domestic bliss. However, there’s one minor issue with their new life, and it’s that Vision is still technically dead, having perished twice in Avengers: Infinity War.

Vision is hardly the only MCU character to return after being killed off. In fact, there’s one character in particular who is often associated with cheating death: Hiddleston’s Loki. Audiences have watched Loki seemingly die multiple times onscreen, with the final, definitive time coming at the start of Infinity War. Interestingly enough, Loki and Vision were both ultimately killed by Thanos (Josh Brolin). Though that death has stuck so far, Loki lives on thanks to an alternate version that appeared in Avengers: Endgame.

Ahead of tomorrow’s premiere, the WandaVision cast assembled on the Disney+ social media page to answer some questions about their wacky series. Near the end, some eager “fans” shared their questions, with the first being none other than Hiddleston (the other two were MCU stars Anthony Mackie and Benedict Cumberbatch). Hiddleston had a bone to pick with Bettany. “Question for Paul,” Hiddleston began. “When we last saw Vision in Infinity War, he was no longer living. But now he’s alive. And I was just wondering, don’t you think that’s kind of a Loki thing? Kind of my kind of thing?

Laughing along with castmates Olsen, Teyonah Parris, and Kathryn Hahn, Bettany replied, “It’s true, I’m totally stealing your thunder, Tom. I’m so sorry about that. I thought the whole thing [would] work better with me anyway.” The reason behind Vision’s resurrection hasn’t been revealed just yet, though Bettany promised fans will get answers. WandaVision kicks off with a two-episode premiere on Friday, and the remaining seven episodes will roll out each week afterward. Most likely, the reveal about Vision won’t occur until later in the season, but there will be surely be plenty of surprises in store before then. It remains to be seen if Vision will continue to appear in the MCU beyond WandaVision.

Loki, on the other hand, will certainly be back. Hiddleston will star in the third Marvel Disney+ series Loki, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in May. As this series will follow the Loki from Endgame, this isn’t technically a resurrection, but it is another thrilling return. Fans have already wondered if Loki could make the jump to 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, though like Vision’s WandaVision role, that probably won’t be revealed until after Loki finishes its run. At this point, Marvel fans are used to dead characters popping back up. It’s just a question of who it will be next.

WandaVision premieres tomorrow on Disney+.
