Titans Season 4 BTS Set Photo Teases Iconic Arrowverse Location

As Titans season 4 is now officially filming, a new behind-the-scenes photo has revealed that the series looks to be introducing a well-known Arrowverse location. Titans is one of HBO Max’s most popular DC original series, focussing on the famous superhero team. Season 3 followed Dick Grayson and his band of heroes dealing with a personal threat as Jason Todd evolved into Red Hood, before discovering that Jonathan Crane was the Big Bad all along. Following the series’ move to the HBO-branded service, Titans is coming back for season 4, which is expected to arrive later this year, likely in the fall.

Despite being executive produced by Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti, Titans isn’t in the same universe as The CW shows, which include The Flash and Superman & Lois. However, the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover did confirm that the HBO Max drama does at least exist in the larger Arrowverse multiverse. During the 2019 five-parter, Titans was revealed to be set on Earth-9, both pre and post-Crisis after Oliver Queen rebooted the multiverse. While not playing an active part in the crossover, this became likely the first and last time the Titans were shown on any of the Arrowverse series.

While not having direct ties to the Arrowverse shows, Titans season 4 appears set to introduce a familiar location that The CW dramas have used for years. Revealed through new set photos, thanks to @GeoGirlMMVIII on Twitter, season 4 of the DC series may see a visit to STAR Laboratories, better known as Star Labs to Arrowverse viewers. This would mark the first time that Titans has ever included the DC location, which has been a crucial part of The Flash since season 1. Check out the full image below:

The reason for STAR Labs’ inclusion in Titans season 4 is so far unclear, as Ryan Potter’s Beast Boy can be seen in the photo. One thing that is for certain is that this will be part of the Titans season 4 premiere in some capacity. While it may be the first time for Titans to be using STAR Labs, it is definitely not the first HBO Max show to include the location. Throughout Doom Patrol’s run, STAR Labs has also been frequently included, primarily through Cyborg’s father, Dr. Silas Stone.

STAR Labs is just one of many new comic book elements that Titans season 4 will be featuring, as new villains are on their way, too. Joseph Morgan will portray the famous Teen Titans villain Brother Blood, while Franka Potente will portray May Bennett, a.k.a. Mother Mayhem. Lisa Ambalavanar is also set to recur as Fearsome Five member Jinx. As Titans season 4 gets further into filming, more details will likely begin to emerge to give fans more clues as to what is going on in future episodes. Until further notice, however, Titans viewers will have to speculate how STAR Labs factors into the story and how it will differ from its Arrowverse counterparts.
