Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ Gameplay Is Borderlands Fantasy Madness

One of the first trailers shown during today’s PlayStation Showcase was Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a Borderlands spinoff that looks just as chaotic as its predecessors. Gearbox Software officially unveiled the title a few months ago, promising a “high-fantasy take on a looter-shooter.”

Of course, Ashly Burch is reprising her role as the ever-hilarious Tiny Tina. She’ll serve as the leading lady of the project, playing the role of a Bunker Master who’s responsible for guiding players through the adventure. And the goal of said adventure centers on the player’s attempt to track down someone called the Dragon Lord in a D&D-inspired game, Bunkers & Badasses. Evidently, players will have their work cut out for them, evidenced by the gameplay trailer released during PlayStation Showcase.

Among the first trailers featured in PlayStation’s September 2021 showcase was the debut gameplay trailer for Gearbox Software’s Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. In addition to sharing footage of the spinoff in action, the developer also revealed a firm release date. As previously hinted in publisher Take-Two Interactive’s earnings report, Tiny Tina’s Borderlands will launch in early 2022, specifically on March 25 for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. A PlayStation Blog post offered a few more details, including confirmation that the title’s robust customization options will allow players to pick and choose from “six unique character skill trees.”

The official webpage for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands also boasts details about the special editions. A Standard Edition will feature only the base game. Next Level Edition promises new-gen optimizations for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with a Dragon Lord bonus pack. Finally, those who purchase the Chaotic Great Edition can expect to receive all of the above and a Season Pass, the latter filled with the Butt Stallion Pack and four post-launch content drops.

Tiny Tina made her series debut in 2012’s Borderlands 2. As one of the standout character, she quickly earned her place as a fan-favorite character. Gearbox let the teen explosives expert spread her wings in a DLC pack for the sequel, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, which served as inspiration for the spinoff slated to hit stores next year. Who knows for sure what kind of trouble she’ll cause as the star of a full game?

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands hits PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 25, 2022.
