Timothée Chalamet recalls Jennifer Lawrence’s harsh feelings while shooting the Netflix movie Don’t Look Up. Written and directed by Adam McKay, Don’t Look Up tracks the efforts of two astronomers to warn humankind about an approaching comet and its extinction-level impact with Earth. Despite mixed reactions, the film went on to earn several Best Picture nominations, and maintained impressive viewership on the streaming platform. Along with Chalamet and Lawrence, who portrayed Yule and Kate Dibiasky, respectively, the cast of Don’t Look Up includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Tyler Perry, Mark Rylance, Meryl Streep, and more.
In speaking with GQ, Chalamet revealed that Lawrence called one of the days they shot together “annoying.” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he spent a lot of time off-set and explained that when it came to filming: “I exploded out of my room.” Read Chalamet’s comments regarding Don’t Look Up below:

Why Don’t Look Up Was So Divisive
The satire of Don’t Look Up became a source of criticism, as the film explored issues related to climate change and the ways people respond to it. In the movie, Lawrence’s character expresses frustration over the lack of concern, and when she appears on television, telling the world that destruction is imminent, her reaction gets turned into a joke. While audiences seemed to recognize the message in Don’t Look Up, some argued that it could have been portrayed better. Still, after the film’s release, McKay seemed to accept the negative reviews that came with it.
The performances in Don’t Look Up were largely praised, and for Lawrence, the movie marked her first on-screen appearance since 2019’s Dark Phoenix. She played Kate, a grad student at Michigan State University who spots the comet and attempts to help Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) alert the rest of the world about it. Chalamet’s character Yule is featured later in the film, but becomes close to Kate, eventually staying with her and Randall as they await the impact event together.
For those interested in behind-the-scenes stories from Don’t Look Up, this is likely just as amusing as Lawrence revealing she was high while acting opposite Streep. Given the amount of talent involved in McKay’s film, and the effects of the pandemic, it makes sense that Chalamet was excited to shoot his scenes though.
