Tim Burton’s Addams Family TV Show Will Be Scored by Danny Elfman

Danny Elfman is to score Tim Burton’s upcoming Addams Family series Wednesday. The new live-action series coming to Netflix will focus on the school years of the titular Addams family daughter, Wednesday. Following her adventures at Nevermore Academy as she learns to control her burgeoning psychic abilities, Wednesday finds herself drawn into a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago. Jenna Ortega is set to lead the cast, joined by Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Issac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams. Additional cast members include Gwendoline Christie as Larrisa Weems, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, and George Burcea as Lurch.

Now, according to a report by Deadline, Danny Elfman is officially attached to score all eight episodes of the new series. He will reportedly be assisted by Chris Bacon, known for scoring titles including Source Code, Gnomeo & Juliet, and Men in Black: International. 68-year-old Eflman will also compose an official theme song for the show.

Production on the Addams Family series began in Romania in September, with hopes to conclude filming by February of 2022. The project marks the latest collaboration between Elfman and Burton, who share credits on numerous prominent titles including Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland. While helmed predominantly by Burton, Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall will also reportedly be directing episodes. Wednesday was created by showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, with plans to debut on Netflix in 2022.
