There has been speculation for some time that Taylor Swift may be appearing in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 as a popular mutant hero, and this could be even more possible now. Deadpool 3 was confirmed to be in development shortly after Disney’s acquisition of Fox was finalized in 2019, with Ryan Reynolds being the first X-Men franchise hero permanently making the move to the MCU. As well as being joined by family and friends, the Deadpool 3 trio also had Taylor Swift herself in tow, which has sparked new rumors that she may be involved with Deadpool 3 in some capacity. Taylor Swift portraying Dazzler in the MCU has been anticipated for quite some time, and this new video seems to hint at her making her superhero debut in Phase 5’s Deadpool 3.

She is a mutant who harbors the ability to convert sound waves into light and energy beams, and as a high-profile pop star in the Marvel Universe, this power goes hand-in-hand with her day job. She has been widely recognized as one of Marvel’s most powerful female heroes and has been heralded as an LGBT icon, perhaps making Taylor Swift the perfect singer-come-actor to cast in the role. Dazzler was previously portrayed briefly by Halston Sage in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but the hero can be given more attention with Swift in the role.

The fact that Taylor Swift can be seen alongside Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman only days after the end of the WGA strike and with the SAG-AFTRA strike potentially ending soon hints at her involvement with Deadpool 3. Levy, Reynolds, and Jackman had been on hiatus from filming during the strikes, but the trio reconvened in anticipation of the strikes ending and filming resuming on their MCU debut. Taylor Swift’s involvement in Deadpool 3 would only reinforce this impact, as she is one of the most influential, prominent, and celebrated pop-culture figures of the 21st Century. Swift as Dazzler will only help to bring mass audiences to Deadpool 3.
