Thomas & Juliet’s Ending In Magnum P.I. Series Finale Teased By Star

Magnum P.I. star Perdita Weeks teases Thomas and Juliet’s ending as the reboot show nears its final episodes. The final installment of the popular procedural reboot has been somewhat of a challenging time for Juliet Higgins (Weeks) and Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez), dealing with a pregnancy announcement that turned out to be false. In a recent episode, the pair wonder if they’re spending too much time together, but through the ups and downs, the fan-favorite relationship has remained strong.

In an interview with TV Insider, Weeks discussed directing the second-to-last episode. And when it came to what’s ahead for Thomas and Juliet, Weeks said that the ending for the couple will be very sweet. She also jokingly replied to what the pair might be up to years down the line. The quote is included below:

“They probably move in together. I think Higgins would probably move into the guest house, maybe give it a bit of a redecoration, and then have 12 kids, obviously.”

“I think it’s very sweet. I think people will like it. Well, I hope people will be content with it because it is the end.”

Why Is Magnum P.I. Ending? (& Will It Be Revived?)

Magnum P.I.‘s cancellation was decided because the deals for the cast expired on June 30. NBC’s Universal TV, which produces the reboot alongside CBS Studios, had to decide whether to extend those deals or end the series altogether. Of the three options available to the network, which were renewing season 6, extending the deals, or ending the reboot, NBC decided to cancel the show, citing the uncertainties related to the actors’ and writers’ strikes over the summer.

Season 5 has delivered well for NBC, though it represented a decline from its CBS numbers. Taking into account the show’s delayed, non-live viewing, the reboot averages about 5 million viewers. That represents a 30 percent decline in total viewership from its time on CBS and a 43 percent slide in the coveted 18-49 age demographic. It should also be noted, however, that season 5 part 1 aired on Sundays after reruns, which could have affected its performance. The second half of Magnum P.I. season 5 largely maintained the same ratings in terms of live viewership.

Why The Magnum P.I. Reboot Was Canceled & Saved (Then Canceled Again)

Magnum P.I., the 2018 reboot of the 1980 television series of the same name, was canceled by CBS, renewed by NBC, and then canceled again.

Addressing whether Magnum P.I. could be revived down the line, showrunner Eric Guggenheim was candid about whether the show could be saved again since it had previously moved to NBC after being canceled by CBS. Guggenheim indicates that it could happen, and he mentions that the reboot’s first four seasons stream on Freevee. But he also stresses that the finale stands on its own and that the focus is on providing a satisfying conclusion.
