The Mandalorian featured a range of stunning armor designs, but a new cosplay shows just how tremendous they could really be. A Mandalorian’s armor is considered sacred; among the Children of the Watch, it is forbidden for them to even remove their helmets in the presence of another. Every Mandalorian’s armor is unique, with pieces forged over time as they advance, standing as a symbol of their victories and even their defeats.

Star Wars cosplayer Mara Jade has created the most beautiful stylized Mandalorian armor to date. The design is clearly inspired by the artistic flair of Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior who appeared in Star Wars Rebels and will return in the live-action Ahsoka Disney+ TV show.

It’s a beautiful costume, a reminder that The Mandalorian‘s armor were all surprisingly basic – and that Mandalorian armor can be a lot more impressive. The colorscheme perfectly complements Mara Jade’s hair, which is effortlessly incorporated into the design.

It’s Time For Mandalorian Armor To Get Creative Again

To be fair to Lucasfilm, there’s a reason Mandalorians haven’t been especially imaginative with their armor at this point in the Star Wars timeline. The Purge of Mandalore left the Mandalorians scattered across the galaxy, and it is frankly amazing Mandalorian culture managed to survive – a testimony to their intractable nature. Mandalorians had other priorities than decorating their armor, focusing instead on functionality. Still, The Mandalorian season 3 ended with Mandalore resettled, meaning Mandalorian culture will surely go through something of a renaissance.

All this means it’s time for Mandalorian armor to get creative again. Jon Favreau has already completed the scripts for The Mandalorian season 4, and hopefully these incorporate a return trip to Mandalore, and a hint of Mandalorian fashions. Mara Jade’s Mandalorian cosplay is a reminder of just what is possible – and, hopefully, of what will soon be realized on-screen.
