Invincible artist Ryan Ottley shared a picture of himself alongside a brilliant cosplayer – who appeared in a full-suit of electronic armor, portraying the series’ character Robot – from his time at MegaCon Orlando, excitedly writing: “This guy killed it!” Otttley praised the cosplayer for their build’s committment to fidelity to Robot’s character design.
Ottley posted the pictures on X, starting off his post by simply saying, “Wow.” In the Invincible comic book series – and now the Amazon Prime television adaptation, which has progressed through much of the character’s arc in just two seasons – Robot is a recurring ally of Mark Grayson, the hero known as Invincible.
In his post, Ryan Ottley noted that he has encountered many Invincible cosplayers at various conventions over the years, but this was the first time he saw a fully mobile Robot suit, making it a remarkable achievement for the cosplayer within.

Ryan Ottley Encountered This Impressive Robot Cosplay At MegaCon Orlando
As a non-human character, of course, Robot is inherently a tricky cosplay build to pull off – at least to the extent accomplished by the cosplay artist who posed for pictures with Ryan Ottley. Though Ottley didn’t share the cosplayer’s name, their work is too undeniably awesome not to celebrate. Though bulky-looking, and almost certainly not easy to navigate the convention floor in, the Robot cosplay is as close to a 1-to-1 correspondence to the character’s look on the page, and in animated form, as any live-action version could get.
Ryan Ottley’s post is also notable for the evident joy that this remarkable cosplay build brought to the artist, who drew the majority of Robot’s appearances. In the selfie he posted with Robot, his face is pure delight – while the close-ups he posted show his signature on the shoulder panel of the cosplay. In other words, this appears to have been an extremely gratifying exchange for the two artists, working with the same character in different mediums, while both contributing to comic book culture in distinctly vital ways.

As Ottley noted excitedly in his X post:
I’ve seen a lot of amazing INVINCIBLE cosplays during these last 20 years, but no one ever made a ROBOT suit. This guy killed it! Amazing job!
This connection between Ottley and this expert-level Robot cosplayer is a great example of how comic book artists’ work extends well beyond the page, offering influence and inspiration to many different types of creators, with cosplay artists being just the most direct response. As Invincible’s illustrator noted, the series’ legacy is long, and enduring, and only continues to prompt amazing fan work like this. While the franchise offers many dynamic, exciting cosplay opportunities, this individual went above and beyond to bring Robot from Invincible to life.
