These All-New iPhone Colors Are Coming Soon, Leaker Claims

A new alleged supply chain leak has revealed that Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro will be available for purchase in at least four colors. The new iPhone Pro and Pro Max are also rumored to be the only model able to use LiDAR functionality, much like the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. Other reports also suggest the new iPhone will offer improved Wi-Fi support across the entire portfolio of smartphones.

With the number of leaks about the new iPhone surfacing, even the number attached to the new model has been disputed. A previous leak claimed the new smartphone will be called the iPhone 12S, instead of moving to the expected 13, but that was debunked soon thereafter. The new Pro model also reportedly includes a 120Hz refresh rate alongside an always-on mode akin to what users find on an Apple Watch. So even if only half of these leaks end up being on the money, it makes sense Apple would look to diversify the color palette of its next generation of smartphones.

As reported by AppleInsider, the leaker cited having a source in the Chinese supply chain and posted the information on a Korean-language message board under the name Lanzuk. According to the post, the iPhone 13 pro will be offered in four colors: black, silver, rose gold, and sunset gold. Reportedly, the leak corroborates an older rumor saying the iPhone Pro model will feature “bronze-like” and matte black color options. The matte black option will serve as the Pro’s default color, moving the new iPhone away from the 12 Pro’s graphite look. The leak also states the rose gold variation of the iPhone 13 Pro will look “very pale.”

The leak also claims the four new colors will only be available on the iPhone 13 Pro models. While the colors for the new base models have not been confirmed, it can be assumed that there will be several options for the base iPhone 13 model when it releases in September this year. With the extensive leaks suggesting everything from incremental design updates to significant hardware changes, it’s a bit harder to sus out what whispers to believe and which ones to ignore. Nevertheless, we can expect more than your average “S year’ update this time around.

Past rumors have suggested that Apple has asked its supply partners to build several million more new iPhones before the end of the year, a number significantly above what has been ordered for the first year of older models. Giving potential buyers several ways to express themselves with their new iPhone is a basic and incredibly effective way to get people looking at a new device as the ubiquity of Apple’s smartphones has turned them into a fashion statement.
