The Wraith & Scorpion Tank In Halo Season 2 Are Remarkably Accurate

The Wraith & Scorpion Tank In Halo Season 2 Are Remarkably Accurate

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Halo season 2, episode 4, “Reach”

The Fall of Reach has begun in Halo season 2, featuring remarkably accurate tanks on both sides of the Human-Covenant War. The UNSC’s Fleet Command can no longer hide the truth that the alien Covenant has already arrived on the planet Reach. To that end, Master Chief Petty Officier John-117 (Pablo Schrieber) and his fellow Spartans are on the front lines during the invasion, doing what they can to buy civilians enough time to evacuate. However, they’re also backed up by some impressive firepower made famous by the original Halo games and books.

As seen in Halo season 2, episode 4, high-ranking members of FLEETCOM and the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) have already fled Reach ahead of the Covenant’s attack. This includes ONI’s new Spartan Program director James Ackerson who took Silver Team’s Mjolnir armor with him. Regardless, Master Chief’s Silver Team refuses to back down during the show’s unique take on the Fall of Reach. That said, the Spartans face a devastating Covenant Wraith just before receiving support from a UNSC Scorpion, the both of them being classic tanks from the Halo games.

Wraith and Scorpion Tanks Make Appearances In Halo Season 2

During The Fall of Reach

During Silver Team’s attempt to get back to FLEETCOM HQ, the Spartans and multiple Marines fight their way through hordes of Elites wielding energy swords and various plasma weapons. The Spartans soon find themselves faced with a Covenant Wraith making its way down the street, firing its large plasma mortar just as it’s shown in the games, albeit with a devastatingly faster rate of fire than is given to players who take control of the vehicle in the original Halo games. While the appearance is brief, the Wraith is remarkably accurate in its depiction before it’s blown up by retired Spartan Louis-036.

After rallying with the rest of the remaining UNSC forces at FLEETCOM, the Spartans and Marines make a last stand, hoping to buy civilians enough time to escape the planet before Reach is ultimately glassed by the Covenant’s fleet via an orbital plasma bombardment. As such, Silver Team is backed up by a UNSC Scorpion, humanity’s own premiere tank from the games and books. Just like the Covenant’s Wraith, the appearance of the Scorpion is quite brief, though its depiction is just as accurate.

Paramount’s Halo show is set in its own “Silver Timeline”, existing as its own continuity apart from the established games and books that make up the majority of the Halo franchise. This allows the live-action series to deviate with new arcs and tweaked storylines, resulting in narrative decisions that can be divisive for those wanting a story more faithful to what’s been seen before. However, seeing accurate depictions of armor, weapons, and tanks ripped straight from the games to live-action is pretty entertaining to see in Halo season 2, no matter how fans may feel about various story elements.

A live-action adaptation of the video game franchise of the same name, Halo follows Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 (Pablo Schrieber) as he fights his part in a war between humanity’s United Nations Space Command (UNSC) and the Covenant, an alliance of multiple hostile races of aliens intent on destroying the human race. The Master Chief is supported by Cortana (Jen Taylor) – an AI construct based on the personality of Dr. Catherine Halsey, who created the Spartan supersoldier program – implanted in his brain.
