MGM+’s new clip of Arthur and Guinevere’s introduction in The Winter King episode 6 teases big changes to the couple’s romance from the books. In a new clip from MGM+ teasing The Winter King episode 6, Iain De Caestecker’s King Arthur meets Guinevere, who plays a significant role in the titular character’s story in the legends and books. The clip reveals that the main character King Arthur encounters Guinevere by a river at night, with the Princess speaking about Arthur without realizing that he is, in fact, who she’s talking to. Already revealing the chemistry that Arthur and Guinevere exhibited in the books and legends, The Winter King episode 6’s clip adds new layers to the characters’ impending twist-filled romance.
The Winter King Episode 6 Clip Hints At Changing How Arthur & Guinevere Meet
Surprisingly, The Winter King episode 6’s teaser clip suggests that the MGM+ streaming series will be adjusting the manner in which Arthur and Guinevere first lay eyes on each other. In The Winter King book, Arthur and Guinevere don’t meet until the ceremony of his formal betrothal to Ceinwyn, the daughter of Gorfyddyd. At the betrothal, Guinevere walks into the feast hall and Arthur is overcome with love and adoration for her, inevitably causing issues for his impending political alliance with Gorfyddyd.
However, while the book made Arthur and Guinevere’s first meeting a love-at-first-sight moment at his betrothal, The Winter King series indicates that his attraction to her will be underscored by their chemistry and conversation by the river. Such an encounter certainly increases the drama of Arthur and Guinevere’s whirlwind romance. The teased sequence after The Winter King episode 5’s shocking events enhances the notion that the pair’s relationship was founded on genuine interest and chemistry, not simply initial attraction, even prior to discovering one another’s identities.
Guinevere’s Arrival Sets Up Massive Twists For Arthur In The Winter King Season 1
Despite the more heartwarming nature of their meeting teased for The Winter King episode 6, Arthur and Guinevere notably enter a doomed romance. In the books, the Excalibur sword-wielding King Arthur abandons Ceinwynn and marries Guinevere instead, which ruins his potential alliance with Gorfyddyd and puts Britain back into civil war. Guinevere’s arrival and romantic connection with Arthur also sets up the introduction of Lancelot in The Winter King, with this legendary knight causing issues with Derfel and Arthur himself later on. With Guinevere finally being introduced in The Winter King season 1, Arthur’s attempt to reconcile Britain will meet plenty of additional obstacles as he follows his heart.
