The Walking Dead Season 8 Brings the Fight to Negan in New Trailer

A new teaser trailer for season 8 of The Walking Dead gives fans another look at the upcoming “All Out War” storyline that will send Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom into war with Negan and the Saviors.

In season 7 of the AMC series, the community of Alexandria became the reluctant pawns of the Saviors, after their vicious leader, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) made examples out of Glenn (Steven Yuen) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) by brutally killing them in front of the others. Broken by what he had witnessed, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) felt he had no choice but to kneel to Negan. For an entire season, the community worked begrudgingly for the Saviors until Rick managed to unite the Hilltop and  the Kingdom in an epic showdown with Negan in the season finale. Both sides survived the battle, but the conflict is far from over.

Comic Book has the exclusive on a new thirty-second teaser trailer for The Walking Dead that officially labels the storyline for season 8 as “All Out War”. With a tone that echoes what we heard in the San Diego Comic-Con trailer for season 8, the new trailer is narrated by Rick’s voice as he makes a rallying speech to inspire the community to take the fight to Negan. We get to hear more of the strong, determined side of the character that fans became accustomed to in previous seasons, and less of the scared, hesitant leader that we saw in season 7.

As Rick’s determination grows, so does Negan’s anger, which can be easily noted when Negan slams Lucille on a table in an act of frustration. Throughout last season, Negan appeared as if he was always in control, hardly ever expressing rage, even when he was attacked. For the first time, it appears that Rick’s efforts will begin to wear on Negan in season 8.

Rick isn’t the only character expressing a feeling of hope as they move forward in the “All Out War”. Maggie can be heard yelling, “The future is ours! The world is ours!

The trailer also previews some of the action from upcoming episodes, including a battle on the road, Shiva the tiger, Carol with a shotgun, and more. The amount of action in season 8 has certainly been highlighted by the cast and crew, with Gabriel actor Seth Gilliam even comparing the season to a ’80s action movie.
