The Walking Dead: Negan Tries To Take Hilltop In ‘Worth’ Trailer

SPOILERS for those not caught up on The Walking Dead ahead.

Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is back and ready to lead the Saviors in another attack on the Hilltop in a new trailer for next week’s episode of The Walking Dead. The Saviors failed to wipe out the Hilltop while Simon (Steven Ogg) was temporarily in charge.

Season 8 has brought “All Out War” to The Walking Dead with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) uniting Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Kingdom against the Saviors who have lorded over them for far too long. After spending a season in servitude to Negan, Rick and his group are finally making progress in liberating themselves from the Saviors. There have been sizable losses on both sides. In last night’s episode, Rick and Morgan (Lennie James) ruthlessly killed the Saviors who escaped from the Hilltop, which shows that Rick is willing to do whatever it takes to defeat his enemies and take revenge on Negan.

In a new promo for next week’s episode, titled “Worth”, fans see Dwight (Austin Amelio) reacting to Negan’s sudden return to the Saviors, who makes his entrance with his signature whistle. Simon is seen telling Dwight that they need “to gather like-minded individuals and do what we need to do.” Simon is mysteriously absent from the meeting room where Negan and his lieutenants discusses plans for attacking the Hilltop. Aaron (Ross Marquand) is lying on the ground surrounded by the people of Oceanside, and Rick’s group appears to be dealing with a zombie problem at the Hilltop.

Simon’s conversation with Dwight could indicate that Simon may intend to kill Negan himself. Simon already tried to get rid of Negan by not going back to look for him during his fight with Rick. Dwight was complicit in Simon’s plan, and may agree to help him a second time. However, Simon was able to convince Dwight to side with him the first time by talking about moving on from the war. Simon has since proven to be even more bloodthirsty than Negan, which could cause Dwight to think twice about helping him again.

Simon may be forced to incite a rebellion against Negan, considering that Negan now knows the truth about what happened to the Scavengers. Negan promised Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) that he would “settle it“, which suggests that he plans to avenge the deaths of her people by killing Simon. Even if this isn’t the case, Negan is unlikely to take Simon’s disobedience lightly. He may also have figured out that Simon was willing to let him die. Will in-fighting between the Saviors hinder their attempts to conquer the Hilltop?
