The Voice: Why Blake Shelton Hid Gwen Stefani’s Engagement Ring In His Car

The Voice coach Blake Shelton hid his fiancée Gwen Stefani’s engagement ring inside his car for an entire week prior to proposing to her. The couple got engaged about two months ago after dating for five years.

Blake Shelton is the only original coach to still be starring on The Voice. He has been a part of this series since it started in 2011. Over the year, The Voice has seen its fair share of coaches. Many famous singers have come and gone from the red revolving chairs. In 2014, Gwen Stefani joined the cast of coaches for the first time. Just one year later, she and Blake started dating. Gwen then returned for five seasons, but never two consecutive ones in a row. In 2020, Gwen took home her first win on The Voice as Team Gwen singer Carter Rubin was crowned the winner on finale night.

Gwen Stefani is lucky that her ring was still safe and sound when The Voice coach Blake Shelton got ready to propose to her. According to Yahoo, Blake hid the ring in his car for an entire week before taking it out for the proposal. In a recent interview on The Bobby Bones Show, Blake opened up about the days leading up to his proposal. Not only did Blake hide the ring inside his car, but he also didn’t even hide it in a somewhat safe place like the glove compartment. Blake admitted to leaving the ring in the compartment on the door of his truck for almost a week. He also did admit that, looking back on it, this was a “scary” move. The ring is supposedly worth up to $300,000.

Even though it does sound risky to leave such an expensive ring hidden in a car where someone could easily steal it, Blake did it with good intentions to hide it from his fiancée and The Voice co-star. In the interview, Blake explained that he wanted to be able to have it close by at all times in case the “exact, right moment” occurred unexpectedly. Blake went on to joke that as he would ruffle through the belongings that he had in his truck, he would think to himself: “Man, somebody’s gonna hit the jackpot whenever I drop this thing out of my truck.” But Blake also thanked God that he did not lose the ring after all. Lastly, he confessed to not even having the proposal planned yet while hiding the ring in his truck. Blake just knew that he wanted family there when it did happen.

Blake Shelton took the biggest risk of all by hiding such an expensive engagement ring in one of the most unsafe places, his car. The Voice coach is quite lucky that nothing happened to the ring.
