The Voice: Actress Kristin Chenoweth Praises New Judge Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is recruiting Kristin Chenoweth to become her team’s special battle advisor on this season of The Voice, and Kristin is singing her praises. Each season begins with blind auditions where four celebrity artists sit at the judges’ panel with their backs facing the performer. In order to not judge a book by its cover, a judge only turns around to enjoy the full experience of the unsigned artist’s performance if they like what they hear and want to fight for that artist to join their team. Once teams are established, the judges each have an opportunity to enlist another popular artist to advise their team.

Ariana is replacing Nick Jonas on the judging panel for season 21 of the singing competition. Ariana announced the good news back in March on Instagram, saying how extremely excited she is to be joining the judges on the show, and she also mentioned that Nick would be missed as a judge. It looks like Ariana is going to bring something new to the show, and she is bringing Kristin along with her as her team’s battle advisor.

Though the competition is tough this year, Kristin told E! News that she doesn’t want to be a coach at this time but that she was so excited to join Ariana’s team. “When I was actually asked by someone I admire and look up to and have watched grow, of course I wanted to be here for team Ari, that’s obvious,” Kristin said. “But my goal isn’t to be a coach. If I were asked, of course I would consider it.” Kristin continued to explain how she’s impressed by the vocal diversity in Ariana’s team. “With all due respect to all of the coaches, and I’m a huge fan of all of them, Ariana has been wise in her selection and she has every single category out there. There’s not one that don’t fit in.”

For Ariana’s part, the singer is loving the coaching experience. She told E! News that it feels great to be a part of the team on The Voice. Ariana says she has already learned so much just being around the other judges and that everyone has a great energy they bring to the show. She also admitted that she thought it was going to be really easy to be a part of the singing show but that it actually takes a lot of work.

If Ariana’s triple-threat talents weren’t enough for the lucky members of her team on The Voice, they’re about to become unstoppable with an equally talented celebrity like Kristin. While Kristin’s not interested in a permanent role on the show, this little taste of competition might just be the thing that takes her there.  Though it would be incredibly inspiring to see Kristin in that position, here’s to hoping she doesn’t take Ariana’s chair.
