The Trailers To Expect Before Avengers: Infinity War

The Trailers To Expect Before Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War isn’t just a bit event for Marvel Studios, with all the big movie distributors lining up big trailers to play before next week’s epic team-up.

With Infinity War being promoted as a film ten years in the making and shaping up to be the biggest movie of the year based on advance ticket sales, it’s also going to be a prime marketing spot for some of the biggest upcoming blockbusters. Putting trailers before major releases is a common marketing tactic – Black Panther saw the likes of Ant-Man and the WaspMary Poppins Returns, Goodbye Christopher Robin and Venom all release teasers specifically for the movie – and with Avengers things are only going to be bigger.

Already, several big trailers having been released online in the past weeks, and there are a few other major films it would be surprising don’t try and get in on the action before April 27. Here’s what you can expecte to see (in America at least – international prints don’t always include trailers).

Updated April 25 with Venom.

Already Released Trailers Likely Paired With Avengers: Infinity War

The Trailers To Expect Before Avengers: Infinity War

Deadpool 2 (May 18): Despite not being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially, you’ll likely be able to see Deadpool 2‘s final trailer before Infinity War. The film is the next big release after the Avengers, and so a final trailer was released just a week in advance, showing off the new and improved X-Force, featuring Bedlam, Shatterstar and… Peter?

Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25): Disney owns Lucasfilm along with Marvel Studios, so it’s almost inevitable that a trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story would play alongside Avengers: Infinity War. The trailer actually released a couple of weeks before Infinity War, escaping the pre-release scrum.

Ocean’s Eight (June 8): While female-led reboots of popular franchises are often looked down on, hopes are high for Ocean’s Eight, which will see Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) – sister of Danny – forming a team of lady thieves to go after a priceless necklace. The new trailer gives a good sense of the tone (and more James Corden), and was released just in advance of Infinity War.

The Incredibles 2 (June 15): Another Disney-owned superhero production that has been in the works for the better part of a decade, The Incredibles 2 trailer is a perfect preview for Avengers: Infinity War. Set immediately after the end of the first Incredibles movie, the new film will see Bob and Helen Parr switching roles, as Mr. Incredible tries to manage the household while Elastgirl starts a new career.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22): While the original Jurassic World was one of the biggest films of 2015, it still drew criticism from franchise purists for its deviations from the mythology and for casting Bryce Dallas Howard in a regressive role. Hopes are high, however, that with this sequel featuring Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm that the Jurassic Park kingdom won’t fall just yet.

Venom (October 5): Tangentially related to Infinity War in that it’s another Marvel property, Venom is (as far as we know) not connected to the MCU, but is perfect right before another superhero film; the previous teaser was paired with Black Panther). The new trailer debuted at CinemaCon 2018 and was released online shortly after.

What Other Trailers Are Still To Come?

Ant-Man and The Wasp (July 6): While a second trailer has yet to be released for Ant Man and The Wasp, it would be a big shock if Marvel Studios didn’t promote their final film for 2018 in front of Avengers: Infinity War. The first trailer for the long-awaited sequel to the 2015 superhero comedy confirmed that this follow-up will see Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) teaming with Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), after Hope and her father, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are forced to go into hiding following the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Of course, this list is far from exhaustive. Other movie studios could easily get in on the Avengers: Infinity War trailer act over the next week, and we’ll be sure to update you if they do.
