The Summer I Turned Pretty gets a confusing update from Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah. The popular Prime Video adaptation, based on creator Jenny Han’s novel trilogy of the same name, centers on Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) and what happens once she finds herself in a love triangle with the Fisher brothers — Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah. The Summer I Turned Pretty cast also includes Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Colin Ferguson, and Tom Everett Scott.
Casalegno spoke to ET at a recent event, offering a confusing update on The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3. Although the actor at first mentions that filming could begin in March, Casalegno later clarifies that he’s only reacting to rumors about the show’s status. He also says that he doesn’t have an idea about scripts, adding that filming could begin in October. The quote is below:
I think everyone is excited for season 3. To finish the story — at least what Jenny’s vision is — I think that’ll be super fun. I think we’re all looking forward to just being back together. We always have so much fun on the beaches, playing volleyball, going to cool restaurants, and trying out new spots. We’re excited to get back together.
I think we’re filming in March. I have zero idea of a script. I don’t even know. It could even be, like, filming in October or July. I’m just going off rumors. Sometime this year. Hopefully soon. I hope. That’s all I got for you.
What’s Coming In The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2’s finale doesn’t move away from the second book in Han’s trilogy, It’s Not Summer Without You, with Belly choosing to let go of Conrad. He gives Belly her infinity necklace back, and he holds his emotions together until he can process what happened privately. As for Jeremiah, he watches Belly play volleyball from the sidelines, and he looks happy, but it’s a difficult road for all three to actually get to that point.
The leading trio has an awkward car ride first, with Conrad intentionally asking Belly and Jeremiah harsh and personal questions as a way of expressing the betrayal he feels. It’s also only one episode prior that he accidentally interrupts a kiss between Belly and his brother. The season 2 conclusion, written by Megan Griffiths and directed by Sarah Kucserka, is largely about Conrad accepting that he’s no longer the choice for Belly.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 will adapt Han’s third and final novel in the series, We’ll Always Have Summer. The story takes place two years after the events of It’s Not Summer Without You, with Belly again at the center of a love triangle between the two brothers. But it’s in the third book that she makes her final decision. Hopefully, as earlier reports suggest, filming will begin soon.
