The Suicide Squad Images Focus On Bloodsport & Peacemaker Masked Up

Bloodsport and Peacemaker are masked up and ready for action in the latest images from The Suicide Squad. Next month, The Suicide Squad will arrive as one of the Warner Bros. movies debuting both on HBO Max and in theaters. As the latest project in the DCEU, the movie looks to bring some fresh energy to the franchise. James Gunn wrote and directed The Suicide Squad, and the impressively large cast is made up of both familiar faces and newcomers alike. Only one thing is certain at this time: A lot of characters will die.

The Suicide Squad follows the updated Task Force X as they embark on a dangerous new mission at the behest of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). They’re tasked with traveling to the Nazi-era prison and lab Jotunheim and destroying it. In between all that, they’ll go up against villainous starfish Starro, one of The Suicide Squad‘s more eccentric characters. Beyond that, most details for The Suicide Squad are being kept tightly under wraps in the lead-up to next month’s release.

New images from The Suicide Squad have been revealed courtesy of Empire. The first features one of the multiple teams expected to pop up within the film: Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Ratcatcher II (Daniela Melchior), Bloodsport (Idris Elba), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), and Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian). They’re shown staring in horror at something out of frame, perhaps Starro. The second image reveals Bloodsport with his black mask on, as well as Peacemaker (John Cena) sporting his shiny helmet. With so much of The Suicide Squad‘s cast being comprised of new characters, there’s been a lot of interest in their costumes. Many of them have been revealed by now, but the second of the above images provides what is perhaps the best look at Bloodsport’s mask to arrive yet. The rictus grin gives an unsettling feel, further cementing Elba’s character as a formidable enemy. Much of the early looks at The Suicide Squad have put Bloodsport and Peacemaker front and center, and it’s clear they will share a lot of scenes together. They also probably won’t get along.

That’s to be expected with a group like The Suicide Squad, and Gunn’s take on the characters promises to be weird and profane in all the best ways. The group shown in the above photos have received the most attention in the promotional materials, which makes one wonder about the fate of the other group. Gunn has confirmed a good number of characters will die, and the bloodbath could begin early on. The Suicide Squad arrives just over a month from now, meaning fans won’t have to wait much longer before they get their answers.
