The Sims Responds To Twitter Font Change & Asks For An Edit Button

The team behind The Sims has poked fun at recent changes to Twitter and has called for an edit button after the social media platform altered its font to Chirp. Twitter’s Chirp font is a little rounder than the typical font the platform’s users are used to, and reactions to Chirp have been mixed. However, it could signify more changes are on the way, prompting The Sims to call for an edit button.

Twitter’s new font started to roll out yesterday, August 11, and while some are reporting not yet seeing the change, it’s expected to update for everyone soon. As well as the new font, Twitter users have seen various different changes to the platform, including alterations to the color scheme, which should now be high contrast and, according to the company, less blue. The switch-up comes just days after the short-lived Fleets function was removed from the platform. While Twitter is making changes to improve the experience, what it hasn’t yet introduced is an edit button. Currently, tweets can’t be edited, so typos and mistakes live on endlessly, and it seems The Sims is just as unhappy about it as everyone else.

The official Twitter account for The Sims responded to the Chirp font change with a loading screen from The Sims 4 which Simmers should instantly recognize. The “OK” loading screen, which originates from an in-game joke referring to Sims’ responses on the phone, sums up the account’s reaction to the change both succinctly and hilariously. The tweet was followed up with The Sims team calling for an edit button with a Sims-spin on the summoning circle trend. Twitter’s summoning circles usually include a wish or want, surrounded by candle emojis or text designs, to demonstrate the user “manifesting” their desire. The Sims‘ take on the summoning circle features a GIF of an in-game séance, created using The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack.

The Sims‘ reactions aren’t likely to convince Twitter to add an edit button, but the clever response might convince some to pick up the Paranormal Stuff pack if it’s not already in their library. The séance is one of the biggest features of The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack and allows Sims to communicate with the dead, figure out the mood of specters, and complete rituals. While an in-game séance won’t manifest players’ true desires, or add an edit button to Twitter, it adds some supernatural fun to the life simulation game.

Twitter’s latest changes could mean that an edit button is coming in the future, but it might not happen in the way users want. A Twitter subscription service named Twitter Blue began rolling out in select countries in June, offering various perks for paid subscribers, including the ability to edit a tweet once sent. Whether or not Twitter Blue will be a success remains to be seen, but users are still hopeful the edit button will come to the platform, without cost, one day. The Sims‘ response hasn’t yet prompted a reply from Twitter, although the official account was tagged in the post.
