Lisa Vanderpump confessed the real reasons she decided to quit The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after nine seasons on the show. While Vanderpump thought she was emotionally and mentally prepared to deal with the pressure and drama that comes with being a “Real Housewife,” she realized once the season began that it was too much.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star that has been with the franchise since the beginning in 2010 said that this will be her last year. The British restaurateur and former actress was a fan favorite on the show, known for carrying around her little toy dogs dressed up in sparkly attire to match hers. There have been rumors and speculations as to why this original cast member decided to leave The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but according to her newest interview, viewers may have gotten some answers.
During her interview on RuPaul, she reported having a brutal season this year due to the sudden passing of her brother, Mark, who committed suicide in April 2018. She said she felt like she “wasn’t in the right space” after her brother passed away, adding that she was very close to Mark – her only sibling – who was just 16 months older than her. She previously said that she and her brother were “more like twins.” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told RuPaul that she wished she’d given herself more time following her brother’s death before returning to the show. Even the franchise’s creator and executive producer, Andy Cohen, told her on Watch What Happens: Live that he wishes he had given her the year off.
Earlier this month, Vanderpump confirmed her exit from the long-running series, implying that she was departing due primarily to the drama with the other women on the show. On RuPaul, she further explained herself, saying that she couldn’t take the divisiveness among her co-stars any longer (she’s referring to her dog drama with fellow cast member Dorit Kemsley, which has been the main focus of this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). Vanderpump was accused of planting a story about Kemsley that called her out for supposedly abandoning a dog she’d adopted from Vanderpump’s L.A. rescue center, Vanderpump Dogs.
It seems to viewers that the dog drama compounded with the painful loss of her brother was just too much for Vanderpump, who is officially done with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She was even was a no-show at the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 9 reunion show, making it very clear she doesn’t plan on reconciling with any of her co-stars of the show any time soon. However, this will not be the end of seeing Vanderpump on TV, as she will still appear on her spinoff Vanderpump Rules. There’s even been a rumored spinoff Vanderpump Dogs in the works with Bravo.
