The Real Housewives: 10 Times The Cast Members Were Relatable

The Real Housewives: 10 Times The Cast Members Were Relatable

Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise isn’t exactly known for having the most relatable moments or cast members. After all, these reality shows are beloved because they let fans see how the other half lives, as the housewives have the ability to go on luxurious vacations, and they all own fabulous cars and enviable mansions.

No matter which city, the cast members share a lot of their lives with viewers, and that includes some surprisingly relatable moments. When it comes to their careers, love lives, and friendships, sometimes the Real Housewives feels totally real and accessible.

RHONJ: Melissa And Teresa Fought Over Sprinkle Cookies At Christmas

The Real Housewives: 10 Times The Cast Members Were Relatable

One of the most relatable moments on The Real Housewives of New Jersey happened back in season 3. Melissa brought some sprinkle cookies to the Christmas celebration at Teresa’s house, and since Teresa was upset with her sister-in-law, Teresa threw them away. This became one of Teresa’s biggest arguments on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

While fans were confused by Teresa and thought she was being rude, everyone can relate to tensions being high at a family holiday party. Even the closest relatives can have trouble getting along at this stressful time of year and social events don’t always go smoothly.

RHONY: Bethenny Taught Alex How To Make Healthy Food

In a season 1 episode of The Real Housewives of New York City called “Careful, She Bites,” Bethenny gave Alex a healthy cooking lesson. Fans remember that when Bethenny first joined the reality show, she was a chef who focused on nutritious foods and cooking prep, and it was nice to see her sharing her skills with her co-star.

Alex’s time on the show was almost never relatable, as she and her husband Simon had tons of money and enjoyed shopping sprees, so this episode stands out from the crowd. Everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to cooking and this was a fairly down-to-earth storyline.

RHOC: Vicki Hired Her Son Michael At Coto Insurance

Vicki’s 14 seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County often focused on her business Coto Insurance, and fans know that she’s got a phenomenal work ethic and enjoys running her company. In the season 12 episode “Candle Wicks and Lunatics,” Vicki hired her son Michael, and this was a huge moment for her, as she was so proud.

Many people who run their own businesses have high hopes of passing down the company to their children someday, or they would love nothing more than for their kids to take an interest in what they do. Viewers knew that this was exciting for Vicki and that she wanted to inspire and motivate Michael to do well.

RHOA: LaToya Wanted A Relaxing Vacation

Fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta have enjoyed 13 great seasons so far, and the season 13 episode “Cajun Peaches” was a stand-out. There are many episodes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta that new fans can watch, and any episode that involves a cast trip will always be lots of fun. This episode also involved a relatable moment as LaToya wanted to have a nice, relaxing vacation. In the previous episode, LaToya and Kenya had some friendship drama, so LaToya’s wish for this trip made total sense.

Any Real Housewives fan can definitely relate to hoping that a vacation won’t have any conflict or bumps along the road. Of course, most people have to worry about travel-related stressors from plane delays to bad weather, but the housewives always have to hope for a drama-free trip.

RHOC: Vicki Hoped That Steve Would Propose

RHOC fans know that Vicki wanted to get married again after divorcing Donn, and a few seasons ago, Vicki shared that she was dating Steve. When the show returned for its season 13 premiere called “The Next Chapter,” Vicki talked about wanting Steve to ask her to marry him.

Many viewers in long-term relationships can relate to this storyline, especially since Vicki’s co-star and good friend Tamra wanted to make sure that Steve was treating Vicki well and that he really was the one for her. It can be tough to figure out the right timing for life milestones, but it was heartwarming to see Vicki in a great relationship.

RHOBH: Lisa Rinna Invited The Cast Over For A Fun Pasta Lunch

Fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills always love getting glimpses of Lisa Rinna’s husband Harry Hamlin. Not only is it hilarious that Lisa calls him by his full name, but Harry is a whiz in the kitchen, known for his famous bolognese sauce and steak. Lisa invited her co-stars over for a delicious pasta lunch and it was fun to live vicariously and watch them dine in Lisa and Harry’s gorgeous backyard.

Seeing Lisa enjoy a meal with her friends is much more relatable than all of the times that she has fought with her co-stars. This episode may not have involved one of the most dramatic storylines on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but that’s a good thing, as it allowed viewers to connect more with the cast. Of course, Sutton and Crystal did exchange some harsh words, but this is still RHOBH, after all.

RHOP: Robyn Pondered Getting Back Together With Her Ex

Robyn Dixon on RHOP

The Real Housewives of Potomac started off strong, and in the pilot episode “Mind Your Manners,” fans met Robyn, who was still living with her ex-husband Juan. Viewers learned that they wanted to stay in the same house for the sake of their kids. This episode also featured a super relatable moment: Robyn wondering if she should get back together with Juan.

It can be tough to walk away from a long-term relationship, especially when a couple has a family together, and fans totally understood where Robyn was coming from here. This was a great, accessible storyline. Fans also know that Juan asked Robyn to marry him in season 5, which was super sweet.

RHOBH: Sutton And Erika Started Over After Their Divorces

Season 11 of RHOBH gave fans a ton of detail about Erika and Tom Girardi’s divorce, along with the legal issues they have found themselves dealing with. While Erika has been incredibly honest about her emotions and how this divorce has impacted her life, she has especially bonded with her co-star Sutton.

Both Sutton and Erika had to start fresh after leaving their marriages, and their raw conversations have been easy for fans to connect with. It was moving to see the cast members talking about how hard it is to be alone after so many years of marriage, and their discussions have been much more relatable than seeing them go shopping for expensive clothing or cars.

RHONY: Bethenny Went On An Awkward Blind Date

Bethenny has always been beloved and there are many moments on The Real Housewives of New York City when Bethenny is right. One example: Bethenny went on a blind date in the season 2 episode “Van Kempens House Party,” and she had the typical nerves and butterflies that anyone would before such a potentially awkward evening. Viewers definitely understood where she was coming from.

It was easy to relate to this moment because when Bethenny told Jill that she was going on a date with a model, Jill was judgemental, believing that this wasn’t the right person for her friend. Many people have had the tough experience of being single and having friends and family members weigh in on their already stressful dating life.

RHONJ: Margaret And Marge Went Apartment Hunting

Split image of Margaret and Marge Sr. from RHONJ

RHONJ fans always enjoy seeing Margaret’s mom Marge Sr. as she’s fabulous and blunt. In one season 10 episode, Margaret and her husband Joe went to look at apartments with Marge, who was upset that the one-bedroom unit she looked at seemed tiny. Marge was more interested in a bigger place with three bedrooms with a monthly rent of $5,000.

This was one of the more low-key moments on the reality series as it didn’t involve yelling or fighting or fancy vacations. Sure, Marge wanted a more expensive place, but she has good taste and almost everyone can relate to navigating the hectic world of apartment hunting.
