The Proud Family: Louder & Prouder – The Main Characters, Ranked By Likability

The Proud Family: Louder & Prouder – The Main Characters, Ranked By Likability

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was released on Disney+ in February of this year, giving original Proud Family fans a chance to go back in time to revisit one of their favorite shows. After The Proud Family ended its time on the Disney Channel in 2005, Disney rebooted it where fans left off.

The main characters are similar to those in the original series but there are a few new faces that fans have become attached to. With the reboot’s success, fans are hoping for a live-action The Proud Family movie but if that doesn’t work out, fans can always watch their favorite characters in this Disney+ reboot.

LaCienega Boulevardez

The Proud Family: Louder & Prouder – The Main Characters, Ranked By Likability

LaCienega Boulevardez started the original series as Penny’s new, wealthy neighbor. The Boulevardez and Proud family got along great, except for Penny and LaCienega. LaCienega was never kind to Penny and often bullied her. Considering how much the two disliked each other, it’s curious why they’re in the same friend group.

In the reboot, LaCienega hasn’t changed in the way that she treats Penny. She’s not the worst bully shown on TV but she has an evil streak in her. LaCienega does go through a few hairy situations when she hits puberty but that doesn’t make her a softer or kinder person to those around her. Because of her “better than thou” behavior, she’s one of the least-liked characters.

Dijonay Jones

Dijonay Jones is Penny Proud’s best friend. In the original series, Penny relied on Dijonay more than Zoe and LaCienega. However, Dijonay wasn’t a great friend to Penny. In the reboot, the theme continues with their friendship.

Dijonay is still Penny’s best friend but Dijonay has no qualms about spilling her secrets or ditching her when something better comes along. Luckily, the reboot shows Penny busy with other projects and people outside of Dijonay, so she’s not solely relying on her. Due to her rudeness to Penny—someone who adores her—Dijonay isn’t the most well-liked character.

Maya And Francis Leibowitz-Jenkins

With The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder being one of the top shows to look forward to in 2022, Disney added a few reoccurring faces to the show’s main characters. Maya and Francis moved into Sticky’s old house, which is how Penny and the gang were introduced to them.

At the start, Maya wasn’t overly friendly to the group and her brother didn’t want anything to do with them. Little by little, however, both of their personalities started to shine. Although Maya and Penny butt heads at times, Maya is dedicated to making a change in the world. Her maturity and heart are what make her likable.

BeBe And CeCe Proud

Trudy pushing the twins in a stroller with Oscar and his mom on The Proud Family

BeBe and CeCe are Penny’s twin siblings. In the original series, the twins didn’t speak much but were always getting themselves into trouble or making a mess. They were the small bits of comedy that the scenes sometimes needed.

Oscar’s mom Suga Mama is often looking after them, but she doesn’t always do the best job. In the reboot, the twins are now toddlers but still don’t speak much and aren’t potty-trained. The interactions the Prouds have with the twins make the reboot one of the better-animated shows on Disney+ to binge.

Zoey Howzer

Zoe Howzer on The Proud Family

Zoey is one of Penny’s best friends and she continues to show her loyalty to Penny in the reboot. She’s considered the “nerdy” and shy one in the group but she never lets their cruel remarks bring her down.

In the reboot, Zoey is the same character (but grew a lot overnight). She still pushes for world peace and is kind to those around her. Her differences from the group are what make her a fun addition to the show. Due to her kindness to those around her, not many fans have issues with Zoey.

Oscar Proud

Oscar Proud is Penny’s overbearing yet loving father. He owns a snack business called Proud Snacks, which hysterically gets low reviews from consumers. Oscar likes to believe that he’s the head of the household, but his wife Trudy puts him in his place.

In the reboot, Oscar isn’t Disney’s best-animated father but he does care about Penny immensely. In the first episode, he hates that his daughter has transformed into a woman and wishes she was still his “baby girl.” As bothersome as Oscar can be, his big heart for his family shines through. It’s clear how much he cares for his family despite all of his outbursts.

Michael Collins

Michael Collins talking to Penny outside on The Proud Family

Michael Collins is one of the more flamboyant characters in the original series and he continues his iconic sense of style in the reboot.

Fans remember him always dancing from the original series but in the reboot, he’s blossomed into the flower he was always supposed to. Michael now has confidence and an amazing sense of style. He’s also spending more time with Penny and her group of girls, making him an important character. His sassy one-liners are gold but what makes him most likable is how much he supports Penny.

Suga Mama

Suga Mama is super strong on Proud Family Louder and Prouder

Suga Mama’s humor is what makes Louder and Prouder one of the best comedies on Disney+. There’s no difference between Suga Mama in the original series and the reboot, which fans adore.

As Oscar’s elderly mother, she lives with the Proud family and babysits Bebe and CeCe, even though she ends up falling asleep while watching them. She’s known for the outlandish things she says and her love of wrestling, which only makes her one of the funniest characters to watch. Suga Mama is also dedicated to her family and adores Penny. It’s hard not to love her.

Trudy Proud

Trudy Proud is Penny’s mother. Unlike Oscar, Trudy always understands where Penny is coming from and does what she can to help her in her time of need. However, that’s not to say that Trudy coddles her teenage daughter. Trudy gives hard love to her daughter when it’s needed and makes sure Penny is a good person at the end of the day.

Trudy is also the breadwinner of the family as a vet and the owner of her own clinic. In the reboot, Trudy now has a vet hospital on wheels that allows her to help more patients. Her love for her family and animals is what makes her one of Disney’s best-animated moms.

Penny Proud

Penny Proud is the most liked character in the series. As the star of the show, Penny’s growth is shown in each episode. She’s the same person from the original series but she’s becoming a woman in the reboot. Her dad may have an issue with her maturity, but Penny loves the changes she’s made.

In the reboot, Penny is strong, confident, and doesn’t sweat the small stuff while finding herself. She learns a lesson in most episodes and is a valued friend and daughter. Because of her need to be a good person and her honesty about growth, Penny is the most liked character.
