The Oldest House Mystery Was Never Settled By The Show

The Oldest House Mystery Was Never Settled By The Show

There is an old House question that the show never settled and viewers still argue about to this day. While the best House episodes are generally standalone stories that can be watched on their own, the show also saw a great deal of character development across eight seasons. House’s cast of characters was incredibly rich, from the first generation of House pupils to the other iterations of the team. Solving the case of the week was important, but seeing the growth of these characters was always the highlight of the show.

One of the best medical dramas of all time, House followed a very clear formula in almost every episode. The way the cases were handled did not change much from week to week, which is why watching all the drama surrounding the doctors’ personal lives was often more interesting than the cases themselves. The way House interacted with his team led to great moments and raised some questions about how much their professional lives impacted their personalities during the time they worked under Gregory House.

House Never Settled Which Doctor Was Most Similar To Gregory House

House’s pupils were very much like him

Dr. Gregory House would often talk about how important it was for him to have different points of view in his team. In other words, Dr. House was not interested in having all members of his team come up with the same ideas he would have, as that would go against the very reason why someone like him would have a team. Still, throughout all eight seasons of House, several characters who worked under Gregory became just like him. Interestingly, 12 years after the show ended, the debate of which House character was the most similar to Dr. House remains.

There are enough examples to argue that any member of House’s team was the one who turned out to be like him the most. The most famous candidate for the title of “most similar to Gregory House” is Foreman, a member of House’s original team. Foreman acknowledged several times he was becoming just like his former boss, even though he was not happy about it. That said, Foreman had a strong sense of morality and often chose to play by the rules, which even got him the top job at the hospital in later seasons.

These 4 House Characters Were The Most Similar To Dr. House

Foreman, Chase, Thirteen, & Kutner were more like House than others

While Foreman is the most common answer when it comes to the question of which House team member was the most similar to the show’s titular character, other names stand out on this matter too. One of them is Chase, who was also a member of House’s original team in the show’s earlier seasons. Unlike Foreman, who made a conscious decision not to let himself become like House, Chase embraced some of the traits that made him similar to his old boss. Chase continued to be similar to House even after they were no longer working together.

As one of House’s best pupils, Cameron also incorporated several elements from Dr. House’s character, though she never really became too similar to him. Thirteen, who joined the team in House season 4, was just so similar to Gregory House that they ended up bonding. Thirteen was similar to House not just professionally but also in personal matters, which became clear once she revealed more about her life. Kutner, who wasn’t worried about getting in trouble if it meant solving the case, is also a great example of a House character who became like their boss.

House’s Team Becoming Like Him Was A Blessing & A Curse

In theory, Gregory House should be surrounded by people different from him who could bring something to the table that Dr. House could not. However, in reality, House was just too influential for this to happen. Even though Hugh Laurie’s character handpicked his teams and valued unique perspectives on cases, his personality was just too strong not to be absorbed by the younger doctors. House was a role model to most of his team whether he liked it or not. This was both a blessing and a curse to House, as he realized several times throughout the show.

The harsh realities of watching House more than a decade later are a reminder that Gregory House was not a great person for many reasons. When copying House’s qualities, such as his way of finding the solution to a problem no matter out, House’s team was also copying his greatest flaws. Foreman had to distance himself from Dr. House to avoid becoming too like him, whereas Chase’s relationship with Camero fell apart partially because of how similar he had become to Dr. House. House was a natural role model, yet he was far from being a great one.
