The Office Star Addresses Possible Reboot Return: “It Has Been Mentioned To Me”

The Office Star Addresses Possible Reboot Return: “It Has Been Mentioned To Me”

The Office star Craig Robinson reveals what he knows about the reported reboot of the show and whether he would be interested in returning. First airing in 2005, the hit NBC sitcom would go on to become one of the most popular shows of the mid-2000s, following the employees of a paper company branch in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Office cast features Robinson as warehouse manager Darryl Philbin, who was featured in all 9 seasons of the show until its conclusion in 2013.

Now, following reports that a revival of The Office is in the works from original (U.S. version) creator Greg Daniels, Robinson is asked during a recent interview with The A.V. Club whether he knows anything about the project. The actor’s response is some what vague in terms of the project itself, but he does provide a definitive answer regarding whether he would be interested in reprising his role as Darryl. Check out Robinson’s full comment below:

“I heard that there was something going on. It has been mentioned to me. If it does [happen], I would love to reprise Daryl at some point, but right now I don’t know, nor do I think so.

Will The Office Reboot Actually Happen?

The Office Star Addresses Possible Reboot Return: “It Has Been Mentioned To Me”

Reports of an Office revival first emerged last fall, with Daniels said to have entered into a development deal with NBC to bring a new version of the show to life. A project being in development, however, isn’t the same thing as a project getting the green light for production, and it sounds like Daniel is in more of an exploratory phase at the moment.

Daniels himself has also commented on The Office revival reports in an interview with The Wrap in November, revealing more of what he envisions for the show’s potential return. According to the creator, a new take on the series wouldn’t be a “reboot,” or the same story just with a new cast, and he instead likens it to a similar style of show in the same universe. While it would seemingly still be in the mockumentary-style, Daniel’s teases that it would involve a “new subject” and not Dunder Mifflin, though what that may be is unclear.

The Office: The Dark Reason Why Dunder Mifflin Was Being Filmed

Why was Dunder Mifflin being filmed by a documentary crew in The Office? The real reason is much darker than most fans were led to believe.

With The Office remaining beloved (and widely watched) now 10 years after its conclusion, capturing that same magic for a revival will be a challenging task. The show’s longevity is arguably due to its perfect confluence between writing and cast, and this has set expectations very high for any kind of return. It remains to be seen whether The Office revival will ever actually happen, but it evidently has big shoes to fill.
