The Office By Wes Anderson Recasts All But 1 OG Character In Stylish AI Video

The Office becomes a quirky Wes Anderson adventure in a stylish AI video. First airing in 2005 on NBC, the American version of The Office would go on to become one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. The show, which aired its finale in 2013, followed the daily work lives of the employees at Dunder Mifflin under the leadership of eccentric boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell)

As reports continue to emerge regarding a revival of The Office being in the works, Acknowledge A.I. on X, formerly known as Twitter, has shared a video imagining what the show would look like if Anderson had made it. Check out the video below:

The AI creation recasts all of the show’s main characters with Anderson’s frequent collaborators, which includes Jeff Goldblum, Jason Schwartzman, and Adrian Brody, though Carell notably remains onboard as Scott.

Would Wes Anderson’s Version Of The Office Work?

Most of the movies in Anderson’s filmography have elements of humor, with most of the jokes rooted in a particular kind of stilted dialogue combined with physical comedy. The Office, on the other hand, features much more naturalistic dialogue, and the show sets itself apart from its contemporaries due to its particular brand of awkward, cringe-style comedy. Plus, the show is shot as a mockumentary, something that Anderson has never embraced.

Tonally, then, and in terms of humor, an Anderson version of The Office would probably be quite a departure. But there are certainly reasons to think his version of the show could also be a resounding success. The Office‘s cast is considered one of its greatest strengths, and the same can be said for Anderson’s films. The filmmaker always manages to assemble the biggest stars in Hollywood for each of his movies, and it would certainly be interesting to see how he tackled a workplace ensemble comedy.

Visually, too, Anderson’s version of The Office would be a major win. While the gray, drab interior of Dunder Mifflin is a core part of the show’s identity and core themes, Anderson movies, including The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, and The French Dispatch, among others, feature remarkable feats of production design. It would certainly be refreshing to see Anderson’s visual style as the backdrop for a reimagining of The Office, but such a project is unlikely to ever actually happen.
