The Office: 10 Of Mose’s Best Moments

The Office: 10 Of Mose’s Best Moments

When it comes to The Office, we’re all so busy talking about the ongoing battle between Jim and Dwight or Michael Scott’s crazy antics that we forget about a very important member of the NBC hit show — Mose Schrute. As the cousin of Dwight Schrute, Mose lives and works on Dwight’s beet farm. In fact, it’s not often that we see him anywhere else besides the farm. He’s typically dressed in traditional Amish garb and can be seen running away from chaos when it ensues. He’s one of those characters who doesn’t have many speaking lines but his physical appearance does all the talking.

After meeting Mose in Season 2, he’s one of the few characters that changed as time went on. Let’s take a look back at 10 of his best moments.

WHEN PAM SPOTTED HIM IN THE OUTHOUSE

The Office: 10 Of Mose’s Best Moments

“Money” was a pivotal episode in the fourth season. Now that Jim and Pam are publicly dating, they decided to book their first overnight trip as a couple to…Schrute Farms.

Pam and Jim found out Dwight was trying to turn his farm into a B&B experience and who better to test it out than them? Their weekend was weird (to say the least) but one of the most out-of-this-world moments from their stay was seeing Mose in an outhouse in the middle of the night.

AND HIM RUNNING NEXT TO PAM & JIM’S CAR AS THEY ENTER SCHRUTE FARMS

Mose runs next to Pam and Jim's car at Schrutte Farms on The Office

In the same episode as above, Jim and Pam are ready for their weekend getaway at Schrute Farms. As they’re pulling up to Dwight’s farm, they’re fascinated by the amount of land Dwight owns. Just as they’re getting closer to the farmhouse, Mose pops out of nowhere and starts jogging alongside their car. He doesn’t say a word, he just sprints next to them before disappearing to the house as Jim parks the car. It was in this scene that we knew P & J were in for quite a fascinating weekend.

HIS FANTASTIC PARK JOBS AT THE GARDEN PARTY

In the eighth season, Andy is the full-blown Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin. In an effort to impress his hard-to-please parents and new boss, Robert California, Andy throws a garden party at Schrute Farms.

With everyone dressed in “Connecticut casual,” Mose welcomed guests by valeting their car. We see Toby unwilling to fork over his keys, but leave it to Mose to wrestle them away before driving Toby’s car through a cornfield.

THE POSSIBILITY OF HIM RUNNING DWIGHT’S DAYCARE

Dwight creates office daycare

When Dwight gains ownership of the building Dunder Mifflin is in, he begins small transformations to make the place more people- and family-friendly. He tells Jim and Pam that he has a new daycare center for all their needs (as a way to make a profit). As Dwight, Jim, and Pam are entering a pitch-dark room, Dwight flicks the lights where we see Mose painting in the dark. With a Cabbage Patch kid attached to his chest, Pam questions why he was painting a room in the dark with the door closed. But to be honest, should we expect anything less from Mose?

WRESTLING RYAN

MOSE WRESTLING RYAN - THE OFFICE

At the beginning of the third season, we see Mose in all his glory. Ryan is ready to begin a career as a salesman instead of a temp, so Dwight brings him to Schrute Farms where he puts him through different tests.

One of those tests was for Ryan to face his fears. Mose then jumps out wearing a sweater that says “fear” on it and proceeds to try and wrestle Ryan to the ground. Ryan is, of course, confused and does not want any part of this Schrute wrestling match.

WHEN HE PRETENDED TO BE DWIGHT TO THROW ANGELA OFF

As soon as Angela gave birth to Philip, rumors began to swirl about the baby being Dwight’s instead of the senator’s. According to Dwight, he and the baby shared many similarities.

Angela, of course, wanted people to believe Philip was the senator’s son, so she kept it a secret until the very last season. But when Dwight found Philip’s diaper, he drove down to a lab to have the matter tested. He eventually got the answer he was looking for but without Mose’s help, his plan would have failed. Mose took Dwight’s car and pretended to be him to throw Angela off his real scent.

LYING ON HIS RESUME

In the ninth season, Dwight is finally the new Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin Scranton. In an attempt to run the office how he wants to, he decides to interview his friends and family for the job of a salesman. After meeting some of his… er, friends, we quickly learn none of those people were going to do a good job at selling paper.

Dwight even interviewed Mose. The best part was Mose’s resume said he worked at Dow Chemicals for 15 years. But Dwight noted Mose has never left the farm and has never worked. Caught in an obvious lie, Mose runs out of Dunder Mifflin and into the city.

HIS CRUSH ON THE FEMALE SCARECROW

Dwight is insanely lucky to find a woman like Angela. They have similar morals, she enjoys his traditional Amish-like style of living, and she understands Mose’s eccentric personality. At their wedding, the priest was quoting a beautiful sentiment about loved ones and relationships. As we see Erin happily sitting with her biological mother and Kelly and Ryan looking into each other’s eyes, Mose is also longingly looking at someone… The camera then pans over to the cornfield where we see a scarecrow dressed as a woman, inferring that Mose has fallen in love with an inanimate object.

WHEN HE DELIVERS A RACCOON TO THE OFFICE

In “Goodbye, Toby,” Toby is leaving Dunder Mifflin and his replacement, Holly Flax, is starting. While Michael was annoyed that another HR rep was joining the office, he quickly learned that Holly was different. While Michael was wooing Holly, Dwight was busy hazing her.

Thanks to Mose, he put a wild raccoon in Holly’s car to scare her. Sadly, Mose and Dwight’s prank didn’t workout because Michael got pretty pissed over it.

HE JOINS PAM & JIM’S STORYTIME AT THE FARM

Part of the B&B package that Dwight offers at Schrute Farms is storytime before bed. Dwight decides to read Jim and Pam Harry Potter with everyone dressed in their pajamas. But Jim and Pam aren’t alone… The camera pans out and we see Mose sitting next to them in Jurassic Park pajamas rocking back and forth as Dwight reads. Jim looks oddly content until he realizes how strange of a vibe the evening takes with Mose rocking back and forth to Harry Potter.
