Additionally, this expansion is bringing back the ACE SPEC game mechanic from the Black & White set, which has already been causing a bit of a stir in the TCG community. Raging Bolt ex 196/162

Ultra Rare Holofoil

Raging Bolt was one of the new Paradox Pokémon that was introduced in the second DLC of the Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet video games, The Indigo Disk, and is coming over to the TCG as this Raging Bolt ex card with several variants. Thought to be related to Raikou in some way, Raging Bolt is a dual Electric/Dragon-type in the video game; for the TCG, it is a pure Dragon-type with the ex card rules.

This card, Raging Bolt ex number 196/162, is an Ultra Rare with a colorful full-card illustration by aky CG Works. Interestingly, Raging Bolt ex is the only Pokémon to make two appearances in the list of most valuable cards, with a Special Illustration Rare also being highly sought after. At the time of writing, card 196/162 is shown on TCGPlayer to have a market price of $37.

9
Prime Catcher 157/162

ACE SPEC Rare Holofoil

The Prime Catcher card for the Pokémon TCG is one of the new ACE SPEC cards making a return in Temporal Forces. This card mechanic was previously seen in the Black & White set over a decade ago. With ACE SPEC cards, players are limited to only one of this type in their deck, as they are much stronger than average, and are made more visible through their vibrant magenta designs.

This Prime Catcher card number 157/162 is the only non-Secret Rare card with the distinction of being one of the most expensive cards in the Scarlet & Violet: Temporal Forces set. This powerful card will be a very useful one for players, yet also appears to be set to be a collectible card as well. Currently, Prime Catcher card 157/162 has a market price on TCGPlayer at $39.

8
Walking Wake ex 205/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

Along with Iron Leaves, Walking Wake ex is one of the headlining Pokémon for the Temporal Forces expansion set. Likely a relation to Suicune, Walking Wake ex is a Paradox Pokémon with powerful abilities. Its Catharsis Roar can do up to 240 damage to an Active Pokémon if they are affected by any special conditions at the time of attack, and its Azure Seas ability allows it to be protected from any effects that the opponent’s Active Pokémon has.

The artwork on this Special Illustration Rare card is done by Teeziro and is a strikingly beautiful image of the Pokémon in a peaceful setting. Like many cards, the quality of artwork is important to its value. At the time of writing, Walking Wake ex, card number 205/162, is valued on TCGPlayer with a market price of $40.

7
Eri 210/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

In Pokémon: Scarlet & Violet, Eri is the leader of the Caph Squad, Team Star’s Fighting crew. With a fierce look to her appearance, this Trainer is a tough opponent, who can now be a useful ally with her card for the Pokémon TCG. The Supporter card will force the opponent to reveal their hand and let Eri’s player discard up to two Item cards they hold.

Eri’s Special Illustration Rare card, listed as a Secret Card number 210/162, shows off the vicious and threatening look in full detail with striking artwork by DOM. The card art even stretches beyond the typical border of the card, giving more depth and drama to the artwork. On TCGPlayer, this holofoil card is valued at a market price of $43, as of the time of writing.

6
Gouging Fire ex 204/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

Gouging Fire, the dual Fire/Dragon-type Pokémon that was introduced in the Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk video game DLC, is strictly a Fire-type when brought to the Pokémon TCG as Gouging Fire ex. A possible relative of Entei, Gouging Fire is a Legendary Beast in the Pokédex with the designation of being an Ancient Pokémon in the TCG. The card’s Blaze Blitz attack does a whopping 260 points of damage, although it cannot be used again until after Gouging Fire has left the Active Spot.

This Special Illustration Rare card for Gouging Fire ex is card number 204/162 and shows a value on TCGPlayer of $45 as the current market price. Its artwork, by illustrator Teeziro, has a very tropical jungle approach, fitting to Gouging Fire’s jungle-themed headdress-like forehead.

5
Morty’s Conviction 211/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

Morty is the Gym Leader at the Ecruteak City Gym, and appears in the Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver video games. While a bit surprising that he makes an appearance in the TCG as part of the Scarlet & Violet: Temporal Forces set, it is not an unwelcome addition. This Supporter card allows players to draw cards equal to the amount of Benched Pokémon that their opponent has after discarding one card.

This full-art Special Illustration Rare card for Morty’s Conviction is listed as Secret Rare card number 211/162 in the set. It showcases the trainer at an outdoor café with some coffee while his buddy, Gengar, seems to be having a conversation with a local Pidgey. At the time of writing, on TCGPlayer, this Morty’s Conviction card has a market price of $45 USD.

4
Raging Bolt ex 208/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

The second Raging Bolt ex card on this list, Raging Bolt ex has a Special Illustration Rare card at number 208/162 for the Pokémon TCG: Temporal Forces expansion set. Featuring artwork by the illustrator Teeziro, this full-art card showcases the immense height of the Ancient Legendary Pokémon. Towering high above the trees, with its head quite literally in the clouds amid a lightning storm, this massive Dragon-type has quite a presence and is not a Pokémon that anyone would want to make angry.

The Special Illustration Rare card for Raging Bolt ex, number 208/162, is listed with a market price of $52 on TCGPlayer at the time of writing. While it has the same Burst Roar and Bellowing Thunder abilities as its alternate card versions, this variant’s artwork stands out and makes it much more valuable and desirable.

3
Iron Crown ex 206/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

Introduced as part of The Indigo Disk DLC for the Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet video games, Iron Crown looks like a robotic, mechanized future version of Cobalion. The digital blue effects of its eyes appear to be even more electrified in this Special Illustration Rare card, along with its blue glowing LED-like ankles and horns. Iron Crown ex has an ability, Cobalt Command, which allows any attacks used by Future Pokémon other than Iron Crown ex to do 20 more damage to their opponents.

Already proving to be a desirable card, this version of Iron Crown ex at card number 206/162 is a Secret Rare with a market price of $57, according to TCGPlayer at the time of writing. The Psychic-type card is one to keep an eye out for, although likely to be a very rare pull.

2
Bianca’s Devotion 209/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

Another Trainer card comes close to topping the list of most valuable pieces in the Temporal Forces set, with Bianca’s Devotion. A Special Illustration Rare, it shows Bianca napping on a sofa while a Musharna hovers nearby, presumably feeding on her dreams. Bianca was not seen in the video games for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but is known in the franchise as being Ash’s first female rival. She is also seen as a Trainer in the Black and White video games, and an Assistant Professor to Professor Juniper in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

This beautifully illustrated card by Cona Nitanda portrays the peaceful setting of an afternoon nap, as long as one doesn’t think too deeply about what Musharna might be doing. Currently, on TCGPlayer, card number 209/162 of Bianca’s Devotion has a market price of $59.

1
Iron Leaves ex 203/162

Special Illustration Rare Holofoil

Iron Leaves ex is one of the featured cover Pokémon to headline the Temporal Forces TCG set, and therefore, it is only fitting that this would also be the most valuable card currently listed for the expansion. Introduced in the video game Pokémon Violet, Iron Leaves appears to be a more robotic and mechanical version of Virizion, and is listed as a Future Pokémon. The artwork on this Special Illustration Rare card is fittingly themed to look very futuristic and sci-fi with an alien-looking planet in the background.

On TCGPlayer at the time of writing, Iron Leaves ex card number 203/162 has a market price of $83. While prices will undoubtedly rise and fall as the set becomes more widely available for collectors and players to see what they have and what they need, Iron Leaves ex will likely remain a highly regarded card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
