The Morning Show Season 3 Forgets The Original Reason For Its Popularity

The Morning Show Season 3 Forgets The Original Reason For Its Popularity

WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for The Morning Show season 3, episode 9.

The Morning Show is ultimately an ensemble show, but season 3 is forgetting the original reason for its popularity by keeping its two main stars apart. The Morning Show season 3 cast is impressive, with the additions of Jon Hamm (Paul Marks) and Nicole Beharie (Christina Hunter) continuing to raise the bar for talent and draw. While The Morning Show season 3 has done a good job incorporating these new characters into the story and giving the supporting cast plenty to do, this has also meant that the two main female leads have barely shared the screen together.

The Morning Show season 3 has fixed many problems from season 2, including the lack of ensemble focus, but they may have overcorrected in some areas. The Morning Show season 4 was confirmed even before season 3 started streaming, and as one of the biggest Apple TV+ series, there is less of a focus on bringing in new viewers. Unfortunately, it appears that as time has gone on, The Morning Show has forgotten why most of its loyal fanbase started watching in the first place.

The Morning Show Season 3 Continues Separating Jennifer Aniston & Reese Witherspoon’s Characters

The Morning Show Season 3 Forgets The Original Reason For Its Popularity

The Morning Show, starring Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson and Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy, was one of the first original series to start streaming on Apple TV+ in 2019. The seasoned actresses, who had last acted together as sisters on Friends, also took on roles as executive producers. While the story was intriguing, and the stars were joined by Billy Crudup and Steve Carell among others, Witherspoon and Aniston were undoubtedly The Morning Show’s biggest draw. Thus, keeping Alex and Bradley apart for most of The Morning Show season 3 was a confusing move on the show’s part and has left many viewers disappointed.

Though Bradley and Alex started The Morning Show season 2 separated, season 3 is the first to truly keep them from working together. With Bradley having moved on to the evening news and Alex still hosting TMS and Alex Unfiltered, very little room is left for the two women to interact at work. Over time, they have formed a tentative friendship, but The Morning Show season 3 hasn’t given them much reason to share scenes outside the office either. While it’s nice to see each character still getting interesting storylines apart from each other, The Morning Show season 3 has nearly left out the most crucial relationship in the show.

Jon Hamm’s Villain Role Means Alex & Bradley Must Fully Reunite In The Morning Show Season 4

Things seemed to be looking up for Alex and Bradley in The Morning Show season 3, episode 9 when Alex asked her former co-anchor to be her partner in starting a new company together. Sadly, it didn’t take long for things to turn sour as Bradley made it clear what she thought about Paul, which Alex didn’t take kindly to. Now that Paul has threatened Bradley and she’s quit UBA, hopefully, Alex will start to see who he truly is and side with her friend. In order for Paul to be brought down, Bradley and Alex need to fully reunite to stand against him in The Morning Show season 4.
