The MCU’s Young Avengers Assemble In Star-studded Fan Poster

A new fan poster teams up the MCU’s young breakout heroes as Young Avengers. The conclusion of the Infinity Saga not only ended a massive narrative arc that had been built out over 10 years but also killed off some beloved heroes. And the heroes that survived are older and don’t have the same drive and motivations as they once did, a theme explored heavily with Nick Fury in Secret Invasion. As more of the original Avengers pass on and come to the end of their narrative arcs, more gaps appear that younger, excitable heroes can fill, whom the MCU has been setting up over Phases 4 and 5.

In a recent fan poster shared to Instagram by user @iman.vellani, young heroes join forces to form an MCU Young Avengers team. In Marvel Comics, the Young Avengers are a group of teenage heroes with connections to the original Avengers formed by a younger version of the powerful Kang the Conqueror named Nathaniel Richards. In the poster, 10 young superheroes are depicted as part of an MCU Young Avengers team, including characters that are comic book canon, like Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang, and those that aren’t canon but are important figures in upcoming MCU projects, like Riri Williams and Peter Parker. How The MCU Is Setting Up A Young Avengers Project

Many post-Infinity Saga MCU projects have introduced new young heroes and spiritual successors to beloved Avengers, which signals that a Young Avengers project is forthcoming. The first Phase 4 release, WandaVision, introduced Wanda’s sons, Billy and Tommy, who share similar powers to Wanda and her brother Pietro. In the comics, these boys become Wiccan and Speed, two core members of the Young Avengers team. Though WandaVision’s Billy and Tommy die with the Hex, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness established that they do exist in alternate universes, so the MCU has ample opportunity to reintroduce them in a multiverse crossover.

Beyond Wiccan and Speed, significant figures likely to join a Young Avengers team are Hawkeye’s Kate Bishop, Clint Barton’s arrow-slinging protégé; Ms. Marvel’s Kamala Khan, a mutant obsessed with Captain Marvel who discovers her own latent superpowers; and multiverse hopper America Chavez, who trains to become a Sorcerer after Doctor Strange saves her in Multiverse of Madness. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania sees Cassie Lang donning an Ant-Man suit like her father Scott, while other young heroes make smaller but notable appearances, including Kid Loki in Loki, T’Challa’s son in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Hulk’s son in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Cassie and Kid Loki are both connected to Kang the Conqueror, as Cassie helped defeat one of his variants in Quantumania, and Kid Loki was banished to the End of Time by the TVA, working for a Kang variant, in Loki. With America’s ability to traverse the multiverse, these three are most likely to form a Young Avengers team to help defeat Kang and recruit the other young heroes to fight with them. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would be the perfect opportunity for the MCU to establish an official team with these heroes, as it would parallel the first time the original Avengers teamed up in The Avengers.
