The MCU Has The Perfect Team-Up Movie To Address No Way Home’s Big Cliffhanger Before Spider-Man 4

The MCU Has The Perfect Team-Up Movie To Address No Way Home’s Big Cliffhanger Before Spider-Man 4

One upcoming MCU project could address the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which left Peter Parker’s future very much in the balance, in advance of Spider-Man 4. While the details of Spider-Man 4 remain largely unknown, the movie must address the aftermath of Peter Parker’s decision in No Way Home to have Doctor Strange erase Spider-Man from everyone’s memory to save the universe. Although the exact placement of Spider-Man 4 in the larger MCU timeline has yet to be clarified, one team in particular could perfectly address this storyline before the movie’s release.

Since Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has been recovering its footing, phasing out many of the most important original Avengers with new, often younger characters, and wrapping up many MCU characters’ storylines, but the franchise has yet to bring together the next Avengers or have a true ensemble cast again. However, following The Marvels, the MCU seems to have confirmed a Young Avengers team-up; although, like Spider-Man 4, the exact story of the Young Avengers is unknown, this MCU update is precisely the project that could restore the memory of Spider-Man.

Spider-Man Would Fit In Well As A More Experienced Young Avenger

Kamala Khan will be the hero to lead the Young Avengers based on The Marvels’ post-credits scenes, when she recruits Kate Bishop, the Hawkeye newcomer, and mentions connecting with Cassie Lang, Ant-Man’s daughter. While all three heroes have already demonstrated extensive powers in their respective projects, they all have one thing in common: they’re new to the hero scene. Even by the time of The Marvels, after Kamala had developed her powers somewhat in Ms. Marvel, Kamala was still finding her footing and learning how to fight more effectively, particularly alongside someone as skilled as Captain Marvel.

The MCU Officially Confirms The First 3 Young Avengers Members

The Young Avengers just made a giant step forward to joining the MCU as a new replacement for the original superhero team. Here’s who assembled.

Peter Parker is very different in that respect. While he would technically be younger than Kate and Cassie and around the same age as Kamala because of The Blip, he’s had much more experience, most notably fighting alongside the original Avengers in Captain America: Civil War and against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame – and this experience could be a major asset to the Young Avengers team. Not only is Spider-Man more in control of his powers, but he also knows how an ensemble best fights together; this could be critical for the team Kamala is building.

Young Avengers Can Address The Peter Parker Memory Wipe So Spider-Man 4 Doesn’t Have To

The ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home was a massive, heart-wrenching cliffhanger. After losing Aunt May on the heels of the very recent loss of his mentor Tony Stark, Peter ends up truly alone, essentially erased from the life he’d been living. This almost certainly sets up a move to undo the spell or at least re-integrate Peter into the major MCU superhero entourage in some way, particularly because Spider-Man 4 is already confirmed. While the how and when of this change are yet to be revealed, Kamala’s Young Avengers plan could be the perfect in-road for this plot point.

Ideally, this team-up will occur prior to Spider-Man 4 to allow that movie to focus on Peter’s character and a new story rather than hash out how he undoes the events of No Way Home. While it will be interesting to see how he is re-introduced or restores everyone’s memory, it would be a shame for that to be the focal point of Spider-Man’s next movie. Moreover, if the Young Avengers band together and address this storyline before Avengers 4 or Avengers 5, those movies will not have to detour their main story arcs to explain how Spider-Man is back.

Which Other MCU Heroes Seem Most Likely For A Young Avengers Team

So far, only Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop are officially part of the Young Avengers, although Cassie Lang seems to be all but confirmed based on Kamala’s comment to Kate in The Marvels. However, the MCU has introduced several potential Young Avengers members already. As such, several other young heroes could appear in the Young Avengers alongside Spider-Man. One of the most obvious choices would be America Chavez, who debuted in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with incredible multiverse-jumping abilities. Ironheart, introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Riri Williams, is also another shoo-in for the team.

While currently non-existent in the MCU Earth-616 timeline, Wanda and Vision’s twin sons, Billy and Tommy, were part of the Young Avengers in the comics, using the aliases Wiccan and Speed. Despite having been erased when Wanda destroyed the Hex at the end of WandaVision, Agatha Harkness’ upcoming WandavVision spin-off show Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is rumored to be bringing back Billy. While that raises other questions about Wanda’s fate, they would make sense as additions to the MCU Young Avengers team, hopefully alongside Peter Parker.
