The Masked Singer: Revisiting Harp’s Performances Before The Semi-Finals

The Masked Singer semi-finals will air on Thanksgiving Night, and one of the competitors will be the round one Queen of the show, Harp. With her powerhouse vocals, Harp defeated several legendary performers in round one, to earn her spot in the semi-finals, including William Shatner (Knight), Eric Idle (Hedgehog), and Chris Kirkpatrick (Hummingbird). During Vegas Night, in round two, she knocked two more contestants out of the competition: Jeff Dunham (Pi-Rat) and Montell Jordan (Panther). In the third round on TV Theme Night, she made it to the semi-finals by besting The Brady Bunch brothers, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland (the Mummies), along with Daymond John (Fortune Teller).

The Masked Singer panelists, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger, have guessed that many iconic singers might be Harp. Throughout the weeks, Robin has wondered if she was Queen Latifah or Yvette Nicole Brown. Jenny thought she might be Jordin Sparks, Fantasia, Ashanti, or Ariana DeBose, while Ken guessed Jennifer Hudson. However, after round two, Nicole made a guess that most fans agree with: Glee star Amber Riley. Whomever she turns out to be, Harp has impressed everyone with her stellar performances. Fans can now revisit every song before Harp takes on the Lambs and either Snowstorm, Scarecrow, or Sir Bugaboo in the semi-finals.

“Perfect” by P!nk

In her Masked Singer debut, Harp began her performance of “Perfect” by P!nk a cappella, showcasing her gorgeous vocals. The audience cheered as the accompanying music began, and Jenny said that Harp was giving her chills. When Harp sang the chorus, the dazzling pyrotechnics made the lyrics even more powerful. It was an inspiring performance that made the panelists and the audience realize that they were in the presence of greatness.

“I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston

On Vegas Night, Harp took on the challenging Whitney Houston song, “I Have Nothing.” However, her performance was effortless and commanding. When Harp changed to a higher key at the end, the audience erupted in enthusiastic applause. She once again proved that she is one of the greatest performers to ever appear on The Masked Singer stage.

“Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf (Battle Royale)

During The Masked Singer Vegas Night Battle Royale, Harp went head-to-head with singer Montell Jordan (Panther), singing “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf. The rock song was a departure from her usual style of ballad singing, and proved that she had the chops to sing anything. She brought excitement and power to the tune. Her impressive notes at the end of the performance wowed the panelists, and she won the Battle Royale.

“Thank You for Being a Friend” – The Golden Girls Theme Song

On TV Theme Night, Harp breathed new life into the beloved The Golden Girls theme song, “Thank You for Being a Friend.” Although people have heard the song hundreds of times in its classic form, she made it new again. By adding a choir to the end, she gave the song more of a gospel-like feel, and made the beloved theme song her own.

“Everywhere You Look” – Full House Theme Song (Battle Royale)

During The Masked Singer TV Theme Night Battle Royale, Harp sang “Everywhere You Look” from Full House versus Daymond John (Fortune Teller). While Daymond sang the song in the usual upbeat tempo, Harp slowed it down, singing it with emotion. She helped the audience feel the lyrics, and understand their meaning, in a way that no one had ever experienced before. The audience and Ken were brought to tears. When Harp finished singing, Nick said that, “Full House just took us to the full church.” Nicole hugged an emotional Ken, who explained that he was crying because he was thinking about his friend, the late Full House star, Bob Saget, who once was Squiggly Monster on The Masked Singer. Jodie Sweetin, who played Bob’s daughter Stephanie on the show, was a special guest on The Masked Singer, and her presence made the moment even more touching. Harp’s performance transcended the show, and was a true masterpiece.

Harp is a great contender to win The Masked Singer season 8. She has an incredible voice, and knows how to make songs her own. She will face some fierce competition from the Lambs, who are also magnificent performers. Either Snowstorm, Scarecrow, or Sir Bugaboo will join them in the semi-finals. Harp is sure to pull on the heartstrings of all who watch The Masked Singer.

The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
