The Masked Singer fans start guessing who the mystery contestants are earlier every season, and after the latest trailer, they think they know who one of the performers is. The Masked Singer season 8 is almost here, and fans can’t wait to tune in for its all-new format. The series switches its format every season to prevent fans from getting bored, but unfortunately, they’re not always pleased with producers’ choices. For The Masked Singer season 7, contestants were split into three groups: The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly. Fans didn’t really understand the format and felt like it added little to the show.
For The Masked Singer season 8, the show is making more changes than ever before, and according to the trailer, it’s going to be the most exciting season yet. This season will have more contestants than ever before and two eliminations per episode. There will also be more guest stars than in previous seasons, with a live performance from The Masked Singer season 1 finalist Donny Osmond, and the addition of theme nights, which will include Andrew Lloyd Webber night, The Muppets night, and ’90s night. The new trailer also teased a performance of Pink’s “F***in’ Perfect” sung by the Harp, one of the new costumes of The Masked Singer season 8.
It didn’t take long after The Masked Singer trailer was released for fans to start guessing who is hiding behind Harp’s golden strings. Reddit user Snoo_62442 shared the new promo, and fans immediately started sharing who they thought Harp sounded like. From the looks of it, most fans are agreeing on one famous Glee actress. “Is it just me or does that seriously sound like Amber Riley,” th0tweiler wondered. To answer the Masked Singer fan’s question, no, it wasn’t just them, as many other fans replied, agreeing they could immediately tell the 36-year-old is the one likely behind the Harp costume.
The same conversation happened on Twitter in response to The Masked Singer official Twitter account sharing the new trailer. “My gleek a** knows Amber Riley when I hear her,” user @1richvhicks02 wrote. Amber Riley fan account @DAILYRILEY_ also recognized their idol’s voice, asking, “Is it me or does the Harp sound a little familiar??” Some other guesses for the contestant were Hidden Figures actress Taraji P. Henson and actress Tia Mowry, whose sister Tamera Mowry competed as the Seashell during The Masked Singer season 5. However, Amber seems to be the most popular guess for now.
If Amber is the talented vocalist behind the Harp costume, she would be the first main Glee star to appear on the show. Last season featured Cheyenne Jackson, who guest starred on the musical drama for a few episodes and also acted on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. The writer-director sure knows how to pick some talented cast members for his shows, and fans love seeing them further displaying their talent on The Masked Singer. One thing’s for sure, with the popularity of Glee and its lasting impact on its fans, all former gleeks will be tuning in to see if Mercedes Jones is finally getting her moment in the spotlight.
