The Map & Locations In Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters Were Explained 5 Years Ago

Warning: Spoilers for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episodes 1 & 2

In spite of how surprising the moment was for the characters in Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters, the discovery of the Monarch map stems from a five-year-old reveal. After coming to the staggering realization that their father is connected to the events that destroyed San Francisco, Cate and Kentaro uncovered a map that opened their eyes about the nature of his work and what Monarch has been up to in the Monsterverse.

Over the years, Godzilla and Kong’s movies have offered all sorts of interesting developments concerning the Monsterverse. However, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set after the 2014 movie, before much of the lore from Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong was established. For this reason, the characters in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters still have a lot to learn when it comes to Godzilla, the Titans, and Monarch’s activities in their world. Thanks to the map, they’ve already come across a huge nugget of information: Monarch has its eyes everywhere, with locations all over the Earth marked as points of interest.

Monarch’s Secret Map Was Explained Before Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

The Map & Locations In Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters Were Explained 5 Years Ago

In its efforts to promote the then-upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Legendary created a Monarch Sciences website, complete with a map filled with mysterious markers. The website explained some of them, but kept others ambiguous, naturally creating all sorts of questions about what Monarch had found at these locations, including Siberia. Since it’s been understood since 2018 that Monarch has been monitoring Titan activity in locations all over the world, it makes sense that so many places on the map were bookmarked on the satellite map and the one in Monarch’s files in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode 2.

A year later, King of the Monsters provided some degree of clarity as to what Monarch had been working on. In addition to Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah, Monarch was also aware of over a dozen other Titans in the Monsterverse, found on all corners of the map. They set up outposts that would monitor these Titans while they hibernated. Based on this reveal, it’s likely that the locations on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ map point to some of those outposts. Others may be places where Titan activity is suspected but perhaps not yet confirmed by their scientists.

Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters Is Monsterverse’s Best Chance To Reveal Its Secret Titans

King of the Monsters showed off some of the secrets Monarch has been sitting on by revealing Titans like Behemoth, Scylla, and Methuselah, but that only scratched the surface of Monarch knows about the Titans. As Dr. Serizawa said, Monarch found 17 Titans after Godzilla, meaning they’re so many out there – yet, most still haven’t been shown. With Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire likely to dive deeper into the Hollow Earth, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stands out as the Monsterverse’s best chance at revealing what these locations on the surface hold and the Titans that occupy them.
