The Mandalorian: Unpopular Opinions (Found On Reddit)

The Mandalorian: Unpopular Opinions (Found On Reddit)

Since November of last year, Star Wars fans have been sending up cries of joy and whoops of excitement for The Mandalorian. Fans of all ages feel as if The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda have single handly saved the Star Wars universe and made it amazing once more, not to mention generating some amazing memes from the first few episodes of season 2 alone.

However… there are always a few outliers, people who don’t feel the same. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and some feel as if The Mandalorian isn’t as good as people say (even though the amazing concept art would suggest otherwise) and one of the best places to air these opinions is Reddit. Well, everyone needs a place to put up their unpopular opinions.

“Already Cooler Than Boba And Jango Fett.”

Now, while most of the unpopular opinions are somewhat negative or against the series that many have come to love, there are a few that are going against other things in the Star Wars universe. In this case, the user Discoverlife3 sees the unpopular opinion being about characters rather than the story.

For the longest time, Boba and Jango Fett were seen as the two baddest bounty hunters in the galaxy far, far away. Since Mando popped up though, viewers have slowly pushed Boba and Jango to the backs of their minds and made way for a new badass outlaw who doubles as a single dad. Honestly, Mando could probably defeat either Boba or Jango Fett.

“Bland Character.”

Mando and Baby Yoda

Despite many audiences falling in love with the Dadalorian and the Child (or Baby Yoda as so many call him among all their interesting fan theories about his future), there are a few like this anonymous user who don’t feel as strongly as others. Instead of seeing the Mandalorian as being an outlaw who could defeat any others him, he instead comes across as being a stereotypical Star Wars character.

The user states that they see Mando as being a cliché character without a whole lot of development. After all, all viewers really know about Mando is he’s an orphan, he’s a badass, and serves a Mandalorian clan. Which is basically the same anyone knew about Luke when they first met him. Or Han Solo. Or Rey. Point is, the concept of Mando has been seen time and time again throughout Star Wars and maybe makes him a little bit of a bland character. Even if it’s not the most popular opinion in the world

“Week By Week Is Better Than Binging.”

In this day and age of Netflix and Amazon prime, tv-series have become all too easy to binge in just one sitting. When The Mandalorian started releasing episodes one by one, however, there was some outcry at not being able to it binge all at once

However, user Lando actually thinks that the weekly schedule is better than binging it all in one sitting. It furthers the speculation and mystery of the series and allows the viewers to enjoy the experience in tiny increments instead of all at once. If anything, it makes the series better.

“Without Baby Yoda…”

Baby Yoda

The moment that Baby Yoda, or rather, the Child, appeared on everyone’s screen, a collective gasp filled every home. The baby is one of the cutest things to come out of Star Wars and has helped the series along and has generated a great deal of fan art for the Child. However… some believe that without him, the show would have failed.

One user, Takkdatazzup, believes that Baby Yoda carries the show all on its own, and if the character was taken out of the series, it would be unwatchable. It’s an interesting opinion for sure and one that some people do agree with although it can be argued the story, Mandalorian, and action help to carry the show along as well.

“Why The Hype?”

Baby Yoda and Mando meet for the first time

There are moments when a show can be overdone to the point of becoming as many fear, overhyped. This has happened many times over the years, with stuff like superhero flicks, art films, and horror movies. Yet, some seem to believe that The Mandalorian falls into that category.

An unknown user goes on to hit this point on the head, stating that they don’t understand the hype behind the series, stating that a lot of the series feels like filler with no real direction or character development.

“The show should be about The Mandalorian, not Force Users.”

Baby Yoda Using The Force

“The travels of a bounty hunter on the edge of the galaxy five years after the rise of the republic.” Roughly speaking, this is the synopsis for The Mandalorian, a bounty hunter traveling the galaxy and pulling off crazy adventures and jobs. Baby Yoda being added in was a neat benefit for many viewers.

Yet, there are some like user Aznerok who think that the child and force users have become the main characters of the show. With the Child and it’s force powers taking center stage, Aznerok feels as if The Mandalorian, who the show is quite literally named for, is falling into the background when they should be the main focus.

“The Main Theme”

Ludwig preparing his music

Look, it goes without saying that anytime The Mandalorian’s main theme pops up on any playlist, it ends up being a bop. Embodying a sense of the Western-style and feel to it, the main theme just slaps and captivates anyone who listens, although some debate that’s the only good part of Ludwig Göransson’s score.

Kylon1138 argues that while they love the series and the opening theme, they think that the rest of the music feels all too over-the-top and way too dramatic and some parts, almost like Xena Warrior Princess, and almost doesn’t fit the rest of the series tone.

“The Rubber Masks.”

Queel meets the Mandalorian

For many fans, the world of Star Wars is always rich and full of potential, ideas, and amazing effects/makeup. When the series first came out all those years ago, it was hailed for its effects and designs. While The Mandalorian has received much of the same praise… there is something to be said about Kuiil.

A side character introduced in the first season of the series, Kuiil became famous for his iconic and memeable “I have spoken” line, but one fan, BarterSellTrade, thinks that Kuiil and other characters like him that are seen wearing makeup look fake. Instead of recapturing the feel that the originals did, it instead feels a little fake and unrealistic, especially when they start speaking and moving.

“Clone Wars Is Better.”

Clone Wars the final season

The ongoing debate of what is the greatest series ever made is far-reaching and constantly in conflict with different sects of fans(it’s Breaking Bad) and the Star Wars fandom is no different and that The Mandalorian is the cream of the crop.

Yet, according to Mighty-Lu-Bu, the show, although good, is nothing compared to The Clone Wars, an equally amazing series whose finale has been put up against the other Star Wars series Rebels. While Clone Wars does have the advantage of seven seasons against The Mandalorians two, it’s still up for debate as to whether Mando and Baby Yoda do have the greatest Star Wars series or if that honor belongs to Ashoka and Rex.

“No Sense For People To Get Upset Over Baby Yoda Eating Eggs.”

The Child eating some eggs

After the fantastic first season, audiences were excited about The Mandalorian’s second season and how it would keep the series going. After the first episode blew everyone’s mind, the joy took a turn for the worst when Baby Yoda got a little peckish in the second episode… and started eating the last line of a Frog Lady’s lineage, which happened to be eggs.

There was a fair amount of outrage over the dark comedy, to the point of many wanting the child to be canceled. However, user Phaeton88 took a stance against the outrage, arguing that the child was acting like any kid sticking a rock in its mouth out of curiosity, not genocide
