The Mandalorian Theory Reveals The Armorer Is A Secret Force-Sensitive

Emily Swallow’s the Armorer has been the leader of Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin’s Mandalorian tribe since the debut of The Mandalorian, and this Star Wars theory suggests there’s more to the mystery that continues to shroud her character. She’s now one of the few notable Children of the Watch members who hasn’t been given a name, as both Din and Paz Vizsla have been named since The Mandalorian season 1. The Armorer’s origin and Mandalorian history also remains a mystery, as Din’s been established as a foundling with a Mandalorian mentor and Paz confirmed he was a descendent of the Mandalorian Jedi Tarre Vizsla in The Book of Boba Fett.

These mysteries surrounding the Armorer have brought many theories about her character to the forefront, most prominently regarding her Mandalorian timeline and history. The spikes on her helmet, as well as the Children of the Watch’s direct connection to Death Watch, have led many to believe that she may have been a “Mauldalorian” at one point during the Clone Wars – meaning she would have served Darth Maul while he was ruling the planet. None of these have yet come to fruition, but there’s one new theory that has less to do with her Mandalorian past and more to do with another interesting angle.

Armorers Are Often Associated With The Force

The Star Wars: Force & Destiny sourcebook Keeping the Peace contains an entry about a type of Guardian named “Armorer,” all of whom are Force-sensitive or at least associated with the Force. These Armorers have a very particular way of earning their title, as they must be trained by another master Armorer and learn firsthand how to carefully craft for those of their tradition. The Armorers also highly value bringing pride to their people, which is something that has been seen with the Armorer, particularly when she specified the Darksaber as a more noble weapon for Din than the beskar spear.

What’s even more interesting is that the work of these Armorers is said to have a “supernatural quality,” which can only be achieved with techniques that call upon the Force. This energy is a calming one, most likely necessary for these Armorers as crafting with metal often brings back difficult memories of various challenges and traumas. These qualities all fit with what’s already known about the Armorer of The Mandalorian, and other Force-sensitive qualities are fitting for her as well.

The Armorer Seems Almost Precognitive At Times

The Armorer has always been very sure of herself, to the point of seeming precognitive, as if she can sense what might come next. She does this most often with Din in The Mandalorian, more specifically regarding his quest for redemption. Though his venture to the destroyed and supposedly cursed planet of Mandalore should have seemed impossible, the Armorer acted as if she knew Din would be able to achieve his desired outcome, and all she had to do was guide him by presenting him with the necessary challenges and reassuring declarations of “this is the way” that gave Din a proper push in the right direction.

There’s a general mysticism that has always surrounded the Armorer and the way she crafts Mandalorian steel, from her strict use of the glowing Living Waters to the flashbacks people get while their armor is being forged by her. Though the Mandalorians never seem to reveal what’s happening within their minds as she crafts the beskar, The Mandalorian showed Din’s flashbacks in season 1, and the Armorer herself warned Grogu about them in The Mandalorian season 3. This knowledge of the flashbacks could be because of her own experience with them, but the way they’re generated could have something more to do with the Force.

Were All Mandalorian Armorers Secretly Force-Sensitive?

Force-sensitivity among Armorers such as The Mandalorian’s could explain a lot of the aforementioned mysticism behind things such as the Living Waters and the flashbacks. When Grogu was in the Living Waters in The Mandalorian season 3 finale, he had some kind of connection to the depths, most notably with the Mythosaur who was hidden within them. This could signify a Force presence in the Living Waters that the Armorer can also feel and act around, especially given the way she clearly values them while sending Din on his quest for redemption.

It could also be a part of the reason why the Mandalorians consider the Jedi to be their ancient enemies, as a dispute over the Force may have been the cause for their age-old conflicts. The Armorer herself certainly knows quite a bit of the Jedi Code, as she even relayed the rule of attachments to Din after he had mentioned wanting to visit Grogu on Ossus. No matter the origin nor the depth of Force-sensitivity amongst Mandalorian Armorers, it’s very possible that The Mandalorian‘s Armorer may have her own sensitivity to the Force that has already been witnessed in the Star Wars series.
