The Mandalorian Season 4 Update Debunks Recent Rumors & Clickbait

The fate of The Mandalorian season 4 has been in flux ever since Star Wars’ recent announcement of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, and now Din Djarin actor Brendan Wayne has offered his rebuttal to various recent rumors about its fate. Wayne, who shares the role of The Mandalorian‘s Din Djarin with lead actor Pedro Pascal and stuntman Lateef Crowder, recently spoke out about the possibility of getting season 4, with many sharing that he said it’s no longer an option. The actor, however, has since revealed that this isn’t the truth, and he still has hope for more.

After The Mandalorian season 3’s conclusion in 2023, the story of The Mandalorian season 4 is shaping up to be one of the show’s biggest yet.

Speaking exclusively with Screen Rant, Wayne insists that not only is the decision not up to him whatsoever, but that he personally says “please, let’s have a season 4.” He clarifies that the rumors about him saying there won’t be a season 4 are totally false before he shares his perspective on the fate of season 4. Wayne goes in depth on the impact of The Mandalorian being the “foundation” of the Disney+ streaming platform ever since its inception in 2019 and insists that such an opportunity for more storytelling shouldn’t go to waste.

I’m glad you asked this, because there’s a lot of clickbait that’s out there that’s like, “Hey! He said there’s no season 4!” […] That’s Jon [Favreau] and Dave [Filoni] and [Bob] Iger and those guys. I don’t even get to walk by that room when that conversation’s going on! Now, that said, me personally, and I’m clearly not a head of a studio, I don’t know how you don’t have the movie and then make sure there’s a season 4, because Disney+… Jon and Dave with The Mandalorian, that was the foundation of that. I don’t know that there’s another piece that is as strong. I know for a fact there isn’t, because we were the most watched show again last year. That’s a big deal to me.

Wayne also shares what he thinks is the only possible reason why season 4 would potentially not happen, attributing it to monetary motivations. Still, he doubles down on how the story is “too important” to not be told on Disney+ in addition to the movie, particularly because of how effective Din Djarin’s storytelling is in The Mandalorian. Lastly, he shares his hopeful expression for season 4, saying, “Let’s do it! Let’s have it!

Now, maybe it’s a monetary thing, and there’s more cost in streaming than there is in movies, and they’re making that decision, I don’t know. In my opinion, I don’t know how you waste the opportunity to keep telling the story. It’s too important. […] I say, please, let’s have a season 4. Let’s not kill ourselves. There’s so much that Mando can tell, that nobody else can, and I mean that without any ego. […] Let’s do it! Let’s have it!

The Mandalorian Season 4 Is Too Important To Move On From

Star Wars & Disney+ Both Need The Mandalorian Season 4 To Happen

Wayne’s positivity about a potential season 4 is not only encouraging, but it’s also truthful. Despite The Mandalorian season 3 being met with mixed reviews, the show continued to be the most-watched original Disney+ TV show in 2023, beating out its fellow Star Wars entity Ahsoka – as well as the MCU’s Loki season 2. The Mandalorian season 3 ending may have wrapped things up for Din Djarin and Grogu nicely on the small screen, but clearly, there’s more of the story that needs to be told – and it’s too important to walk away from.

The Mandalorian is helping to break Star Wars into its new theatrical era with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, the first Star Wars movie to hit theaters since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but both Star Wars and Disney+ cannot afford to let its TV show run end just yet. As the foundation of the streaming service, The Mandalorian season 4 is imperative to its future. Still, as Wayne says, this is a decision that’s out of the hands of him and his fellow cast members, and thus The Mandalorian season 4’s fate remains in flux for now.
