The Mandalorian: 10 Ways The Show Can Go On Without Grogu

The Mandalorian: 10 Ways The Show Can Go On Without Grogu

Fans did not know what to expect when The Mandalorian was announced for Disney+. A few less than stellar outings on movie screens had certainly tamed expectations. But The Mandalorian became an instant sensation, due in no small part to Grogu. This baby version of Yoda was an intoxicating combination of cuteness, mystery, and raw Force powers.

But the end of Season 2 saw Grogu leave Din Djarin’s side, likely for good. Being that protecting the little guy was his entire mission in life, it has left fans wondering what Djarin will be up to in the coming seasons now that his future isn’t written.

Fighting To Free Mandalore

The Mandalorian: 10 Ways The Show Can Go On Without Grogu

While Djarin might not have been born and raised on Mandalore, he was adopted by a splinter sect of Mandalorian culture called the Children of the Watch. He has only recently come to realize their views do not represent those of mainstream Mandalorians.

After meeting Bo-Katan Kryze, Djarin began to learn more about the plight of Mandalore and how it suffered under the Empire. His next mission could easily involve fighting to return Mandalore to its former glory.

Hunting Down Grand Admiral Thrawn

Grand Admiral Thrawn thinks about his next move

During the course of Season 2, Djarin made a new friend, a former Jedi named Ahsoka Tano. After surviving Order 66, the former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker had become integral to the foundation of the Rebellion and the battle against the Empire.

Since the Empire’s fall, Tano had taken on a new mission. Specifically, she was hunting Grand Admiral Thrawn and searching for her lost friend Ezra Bridger. Djarin could assist in that search being that he’s accustomed to tracking people down and is no fan of the Empire.

Searching For Grogu’s Species

Grogu leaves with Luke Skywalker

Fans were shocked by the reveal of Season 1, Episode 1, specifically that Mando’s target was an infant member of Yoda’s species. The series would go on to reveal that the little guy was deeply connected to the Force and that his name was Grogu.

But those details represent 90% of what the show told fans so far. There are still a lot of questions surrounding Grogu and his species. Din Djarin could be the one to finally uncover some answers. That said, some aspects of Grogu’s history might be better left as a mystery.

Helping Greef Karga With His Issues

Greef Karga talks to Mando

During Season 1, Greef Karga became an important character as Djarin’s handler in the Bounty Hunters’ Guild. He gave Mando the mission that led him to Grogu in the first place, and ultimately stood beside him against Moff Gideon.

While he only popped up once in Season 2, Karga’s relationship with Djarin remains an important part of the series. As the administrator of an Outer Rim community, Djarin’s talents will come in handy to Greef Karga in the future.

Trying To Find More Jedi

Season 2 was spent trying to find a Jedi who could train Grogu to use his formidable abilities. Djarin cared deeply for his adopted son but he also knew Grogu needed proper training in the Force to survive and gain control over his powers.

In the end, it was Luke Skywalker who answered the call. But fans also know that there are more Jedi out there. Mando could be the one who tracks them down, and brings them in from the cold.

Fighting Imperial Remnants

At the point that The Mandalorian started, it had been a few years since the fall of the Empire. But there were still plenty of Imperial remnants floating around, particularly in the Outer Rim and unexplored regions of the galaxy.

Rebel pilot Captain Carson Teva indicated that there is something big happening in the Outer Rim, likely involving those remnants. It’s a fight that Djarin would probably be happy to get involved in since tearing down what’s left of the Empire has become a hobby.

Unraveling Moff Gideon’s Plot

Moff Gideon and Grogu in The Mandalorian

The big bad of the series so far has been Moff Gideon. He was on the hunt for Grogu as he needed the little guy’s DNA for his cloning project. While Gideon was captured at the end of Season 2, that doesn’t mean his story is anywhere near done.

Djarin may end up having to unravel the entire plot one thread at a time, trying to bring it to a complete stop. But like anything involving Moff Gideon, nothing is ever that simple. He seems to be a “plans within plans within plans” kind of guy.

Helping More Mandalorians

The fall of Mandalore scattered the Mandalorian people across the galaxy. They lost their homeworld to a petty and vindictive Empire that relished the opportunity to crush their opposition under their heels.

There are millions of Mandalorians in the galaxy who need guidance. Din Djarin could be the one to step up and help them all find their way home, whether that’s Mandalore or somewhere else.

Tracking Down The Armorer

The Armorer helps Mando in Season 1

After being raised by the Children of the Watch, Djarin became a member of a secret covert on Navarro. It was led by a female Mandalorian referred to only as the Armorer. She was the one who constructed Mando’s Beskar armor.

The Armorer has not been seen since Season 1 when she gave Mando his mission to help Grogu, then beat down several Stormtroopers. It might be time for Djarin to head out in search of his former ally and mentor.

Helping Boba Fett On Tatooine

Fennec Shand and Boba Fett in The Mandalorian season 2

The final episode of Season 2 set things in motion for Boba Fett’s next set of adventures. He and Fennec Shand killed Bib Fortuna, claiming the remains of the late Jabba the Hutt’s criminal empire. But it will take more than two people to hold it.

Boba Fett is going to need help to hang onto Jabba’s kingdom, and Din Djarin might be the person to do it. He certainly owes Boba Fett a favor or two after the famed bounty hunter helped in the rescue of Grogu.
