The Legend Of Korra: Each Main Character’s Biggest Weakness

The Legend Of Korra: Each Main Character’s Biggest Weakness

The main cast of The Legend of Korra are all very skilled individuals that bring a lot to the table in terms of their personalities and abilities. As the crew had to deal with plenty of world-ending villains throughout the show’s run, it makes sense that they’d have to be a smart bunch to take it all on.

However, they aren’t without fault. Almost all of them have a weakness or two that puts them in a bad position at times throughout the show. Some of these weaknesses are worse than others, and some aren’t all that bad in the grand scheme of things. However, they all come into play during the show’s run at one point or another.

Asami: No Bending

By no fault of her own, Asami’s main weakness is that she isn’t a bender, unlike just about every other main character in the show. However, Asami certainly doesn’t let this slow her down. She is still quite capable, and uses her electric glove and inventions to help the team meet their goals.

While Asami would probably be more helpful if she had bending abilities, this certainly isn’t the biggest weakness that any of the characters have.

Bolin: Easily Influenced

Bolin is a wonderful character that has a lot of depth to him. Despite that, he certainly isn’t the brightest character around. He has his shortcomings, and his biggest one comes in how easily influenced he is. Bolin certainly isn’t a leader, and tends to follow others throughout his time on the show.

Of course, this becomes a problem when he starts following Kuvira, who is bent on destroying Republic City and taking it for the Earth Kingdom. While he eventually comes to his senses, he truly believes that he is fighting for the common good while he is part of Kuvira’s ranks, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Mako: Can’t Lighten Up

Mako can, honestly, just be pretty mean at times. He’s mean to Korra when he first meets her, he’s about to be mean to Asami before he starts flirting with her, and he’s mean to Bolin at various points throughout the series. He’s also not afraid of delivering low blows when he’s angry or fighting with someone.

While Mako is a valued member of the team who is a huge part of keeping the world safe, he could certainly soften up a bit.

Tenzin: Set In His Ways

Tenzin might be an incredibly skilled airbender who teaches Korra everything she knows about the skill, but that doesn’t mean that he is without shortcomings. Where Tenzin could use a bit of a tune-up is that he is very, very set in his ways.

While Korra might be young and still growing as an Avatar, he doesn’t often listen to her or take his advice, and that goes for a lot of other characters on the show as well. Tenzin is wise, and usually correct in what he’s thinking. However, this isn’t always the case. It’s an important part of life to listen to others and take their advice at times, and Tenzin could certainly stand to grow in this area.

Lin: Also Very Set In Her Ways

Tenzin and Lin are close with one another and similar in quite a few ways. One of those ways is that they share very similar shortcomings. Lin is also not one to listen and take advice often. She’s going to do whatever she thinks is right in whatever situation she finds herself in.

As with Tenzin, this works most of the time, but not always. She’s also pretty prone to explosive bouts of rage at times, which ties into this point. However, when she does cave and listen to people, such as her sister Suyin, she’s bound to be an unstoppable force for the greater good of the world.

Jinora: Her Age

It’s hard to actually think of any shortcomings that Jinora has. She is incredibly gifted in so many ways. She has spiritual powers that haven’t been seen in anyone else in the entire franchise, and she is one of the youngest airbending masters ever.

As such, it makes sense that Jinora’s only real drawback is how young she is. By the time she’s an adult, her skills are going to be unrivaled by any who try and challenge her. Her weakness could be considered a strength though, as she’s already so powerful as a child. Who knows what she’ll go on to do as she grows and continues to hone her skills.

Korra: Her Self-Doubt

It’s pretty obvious to any viewer what K0rra’s greatest weakness is. It’s her self-doubt. While she starts off as headstrong and confident, later on in the series, she falters. Her conflict and losses to Zaheer hurt her in more ways than one, and this greatly hinders her ability to fight Kuvira in the show’s final season.

It isn’t until the final conflict that Korra is able to overcome this drawback and defeat Kuvira to save the world. Despite her raw power, Korra has a tough time believing in herself throughout most of the series, which is something that holds her back from ever really reaching her true heights until much later on.
