The Kardashians Fans Call Hulu Series ‘Inauthentic & Staged’

The Kardashians is a reality series, so fans are wondering why it feels so fake. The series premiered on Hulu in April, ten months after Keeping Up With The Kardashians ended its 20-season run. The first season focused on Kim Kardashian’s sex tape scandal, her Saturday Night Live hosting gig, and Kourtney Kardashian’s engagement to Travis Barker. Season two has touched upon Tristan Thompson’s cheating scandal and many other moments that have been in the media over the past year. While Pete Davidson hasn’t made an appearance yet, fans have heard Kim mention him a few times throughout the episodes.

Unfortunately, The Kardashians is not giving fans what they want to see, and they feel like the show is heavily manipulated. TikTok user @psychadvice made a video sharing some negative fan responses to the show and questioned if The Kardashians will succeed much longer. The user pointed out that fans are finding the season very boring, especially the scenes with Kendall Jenner. They don’t think it’s offering anything that fans didn’t already know about them through the media and Instagram. The user believes the reason the show isn’t very interesting is that the stars are too famous. “They’re too self-aware of their success. Everyone has too much to lose. It’s so curated, but it’s trying to be drama.

The Kardashians Fans Miss The Honesty Of KUWTK

Reddit user @HopefulCloud56 reshared the video saying, “It’s terrible, it just feels so inauthentic and staged. They are completely out of touch. The Kardashians fans explained that what they want to see is the real things going on in the stars’ lives, like Kim and Kanye West’s divorce and the drama between Kanye and Pete. They also said the show feels like an advertisement for their companies, with many of the episodes being about Kim’s shape-wear company, SKIMS, and Kendall’s Tequila brand 818. Fans say they miss KUWTK and how honest it felt. Some fans even critiqued the way the show often breaks the fourth wall with the stars talking to the camera crew, calling it “cringey.

When KUWTK aired, Kim was best known for being Robert Kardashian’s daughter and Paris Hilton’s best friend. She wasn’t a household name, and neither were her sisters. Kendall and Kylie Jenner had not yet branched out on their own and were just Kim’s younger sisters who appeared on the show doing funny things every once in a while. The show had a much more comedic feel to it, especially with Kourtney’s ex-husband Scott Disick having a much larger role in the series. As they got more famous, they became more cautious of their image, and The Kardashians proves they are not willing to put their entire lives on television anymore. As producers on the show, they have a say in what makes the cut, and it seems they’re very intentional with how the show is filmed and edited.

Unfortunately, fans miss the old days, and if they don’t start taking their fans’ feedback seriously, The Kardashians may not make it another season. Kim has every right not to want to air out her divorce on television. She’s incredibly protective over her children and never wants to speak badly about Kanye or make them believe their father is a bad person. However, there are plenty of other areas in her life that she could open up about to make fans feel like they’re watching something raw and honest. If she and her family don’t want to do this, then maybe it’s time they step away from the reality tv world. For fans, the show just can’t live up to KUWTK, and if things don’t improve, they may stop tuning into The Kardashians altogether.

The Kardashians streams Thursdays on Hulu.
