The Justice League Stole The Avengers’ Catchphrase (For The Best Reason)

Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Superman: Son of Kal-El #18

In a new preview for DC’s Superman: Son of Kal-El, the Justice League hilariously steals a classic catchphrase from Marvel’s Avengers. With the original Superman back on Earth, Clark and Jon are reunited as the Men of Steel. However, one of their first missions together right is very personal right off the bat. As such, it’s all hands on deck with the Justice League joining forces to help out the Kent Family.

Recently in the DC Universe, Clark Kent left Earth on an extended campaign, seeking to free the millions of slaves on Warworld, the dark and violent planet ruled by the villain Mongul. During this time, Clark left Jon in charge as the new Superman, trusting his son to protect the planet while he was away. However, Clark had barely left when President Henry Bendix of Gamorra bombed the Kent Farm with an exploding metahuman, giving Jon only seconds to save his grandparents and Jay Nakamura before they would have been killed.

Because the Kent Farm was under the protection of the Justice League, the new preview for Superman: Son of Kal-El #18 from Tom Taylor, Cian Tormey, and Ruairí Coleman features the team coming together to help both Supermen rebuild now that Clark is back. As such, Wally West’s Flash makes sure Jonathan and Martha don’t want any fancy new additions before giving a hilariously surprising call to action (one the Avengers know quite well). Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

The Justice League Finally Fix Their Superman Mistake (As Avengers?)

  • SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL #18
  • KAL-EL RETURNS, CHAPTER SIX: SECURITY
  • THE RISE OF RED SIN! With the landmark Action Comics #1050 just around the corner, prepare for the ultimate battle between Superman and Lex Luthor as Clark and Jon continue their intensive training. But will it be enough to overcome the mysterious new villain calling themselves Red Sin?

Since the attack on the farm Ma and Pa Kent had been living in a Justice League safehouse, so it’s nice to see the League making up for their oversight and helping them rebuild. Although the physical house and farm get rebuilt as they were, Batman has integrated some of the most advanced defense systems available to prevent any future attacks. Regardless, the Flash’s “Justice League Assemble!” line is the best part of this preview. When else could the Justice League get away with ripping off Earth’s Mightiest Heroes if not at a heartwarming construction project?

As far as the rest of the issue is concerned, it looks as though Clark and Jon will be preparing for Lex Luthor’s newest plot which involves the new villain known as Red Sin. Likewise, it’s unclear if the issue will continue to feature the rest of the Justice League after rebuilding the Kent Farm and their perfect Avengers reference. Either way, the full Superman: Son of Kal-El #18 releases December 13th from DC Comics.
