The Justice League Already Ruined Naomi’s Secret Identity

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Blue & Gold #1!

In Blue & Gold #1, the Justice League‘s newest member, Naomi, just had her secret identity exposed to the world! In this issue, Booster Gold desperately tries to prove himself a worthy hero. He does this through live streaming his battles to viewers from all around the world. Booster Gold is the first superhero to become a social media influencer and use it as a tool to boost his popularity as a hero. It’s quite smart, although very revealing and can be quite dangerous.

Naomi is one of the Justice League’s newest members. Since Brian Michael Bendis took over the Justice League title, Naomi has been extremely prominent. The recent issues have explored Naomi trying to understand the power that she holds. This includes trying to reason with her fiery temper which is easily triggered when in combat. Also, trying to find out more about her mysterious home planet. Naomi is very new to the superhero game and has a whole future to carve, but she already has some limitations in this reality.

In Blue & Gold #1 by Dan Jurgens and Ryan Sook, Naomi’s identity is revealed by Black Adam. This occurs as Booster Gold and Blue Beetle break into a mysterious alien ship that has the Justice League held captive. The new dynamic duo is successfully able to let the Justice League loose while streaming live via Skeets. In the live stream, Naomi’s face is shown and Black Adam refers to her by name. Essentially, now all of this has been released to the world, any attempt of building an alternate identity is futile.

The Justice League Already Ruined Naomi’s Secret Identity

Obviously, with Naomi being an extremely new hero, she doesn’t know everything that must be done to lead a superhero’s life. She hasn’t tried very hard to come up with an alternate persona to keep herself and her family safe. But now, everything is ruined for Naomi as together, Black Adam and Booster Gold have ruined any chance of Naomi being free. She will now never be able to make that choice. It’s a huge shame because she is so young and has a lot ahead of her. But knowing how resilient she is, Naomi will live with it and find a way to make it work.

The blame can be spread around, but clearly, Booster Gold is the main culprit. If it wasn’t for his greed to become famous, he wouldn’t have been live streaming to the world. And Black Adam, even if he didn’t know about the camera on them, should have never called Naomi by her name. Especially, not in front of any villains who could track her down. Ultimately, it can be boiled down to a fault in the Justice League‘s leadership. It should be a set rule to not call anyone by their real name, especially in the field. They should’ve come together and made up a superhero for Naomi when out in the public. Blue & Gold #1 is available now.
