The Jedi Will Confront Their Greatest Fear In Thrilling New Star Wars Story

Star Wars has revealed covers for two upcoming High Republic novels, and both feature the greatest danger to the Jedi during the era set hundreds of years before the beginning of the Skywalker saga. Currently in its third publishing phase, The High Republic has been dealing with the aftermath of Starlight Beacon’s destruction, and the Jedi have been forced to contend with the greater threat of the Nihil marauders. However, the NIhil’s command over the creatures known as the Nameless has generated some genuine fear among the Jedi.

Now, Star Wars has revealed the covers for both Tears of the Nameless by George Mann and Beware the Nameless by Zoraida Córdova. For Tears of the Nameless’ cover, Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo are seen with lightsabers drawn holding back one of the imposing creatures. Additionally, Beware the Nameless‘ cover sees one of the creatures sneaking up behind Zenny Greylark and Jedi Youngling Kildo who will be joined by one Churo the Hutt. The new cover art can be seen in the video below:

Córdova’s Beware the Nameless is set to hit bookstore shelves on August 27th, 2024, while George Mann’s Tears of the Nameless is set to release on September 24th.

What Are The Nameless, The Greatest Monsters Of The High Republic?

Ancient Force Predators

The Nameless, an enemy of the Jedi during the High Republic that could feed on the Force

Also known as the Shrii Ka Rai or “Eater of the Force”, the Nameless can drain and consume the energy of Force users, leaving them as nothing but empty stone husks. Likewise, the Nameless also generate a hallucinogenic effect, overwhelming Jedi in states of pure fear and terror before their lives are drained. Thanks to the Nihil marauders who control several of them under the command of Marchion Ro, the Namless have also been outfitted with various cybernetics courtesy of Baron Boolan, making them even more dangerous to the Jedi than they already were.

Keeping that in mind, it’s hard to see how a single Jedi Knight and his Padawan will be able to survive the Force predators in Tears of the Namleless, let alone a Jedi Youngling and their new companions in Beware the Nameless. At any rate, both Nameless novels should prove to be very exciting reads as more about the creatures will undoubtedly be revealed in the new High Republic books. Perhaps the Jedi will finally find a means to gain the upper hand as the High Republic Era continues.
