The Invisible Woman Just Received A Power Cosmic Upgrade

Warning: spoilers for Fantastic Four: Antithesis #3 below!

Susan Storm Richards, the Invisible Woman of Fantastic Four fame, is famous for her projection force fields and talent for vanishing. Her newest comic adventure sees Sue – and the rest of her team – absorb a much-needed cosmic boost. Just like her fellow teammates, Sue is now stronger than ever, but then again, their latest threat is said to be deadlier than Galactus.

The Fantastic Four’s Power Cosmic-imbuing adventure, chronicled in Fantastic Four Antithesis #3, sees the team tracking down a solution to counter their latest foe, “Galactus’ Antithesis.” Galactus himself greets the team in his weakened, human form, offering to help them with cosmic energy, similar to the powers he once granted his loyal Silver Surfer. Reed posits that the team agree to try absorbing more energy to enhance their powers; in a blinding flash, each hero gains a new set of interstellar abilities.

Each Fantastic Four member not only gets additional powers, but cool new outfits as well. Stylized in futuristic chrome, silver, and blue, these super suits are perfect for their thrilling, galactic mission. Sue gets a helmet and antennae similar to Guardian of the Galaxy Mantis’ design. After a close call from a direct blast from the Antithesis hoard, Sue quickly reaches out to the Silver Surfer. Immediately she finds that she can transfer her invisibility to him, but that’s not all. Not only can she turn things invisible, Sue notes that, “I can turn things intangible as well.” It seems Sue and the Silver Surfer are effectively untouchable on the battlefield, as long as he stays close enough to Sue. But paradise is soon lost.

Sue and the Silver Surfer are quick to note the discomfort of their enhanced selves. The new powers are overwhelming, and the Silver Surfer begins to suffer from excruciating pain, while Sue observes that her senses are close to being over-stimulated. New visual wavelengths, color spectra, and smells are just some of the new sensations she notes experiencing. For now, Sue worries something is wrong with their new powers, and the pair venture off in search of their team.

Fantastic Four: Antithesis creators Waid, Adams, Farmer, and Martin have crafted a thrilling new adventure and design for the Fantastic Four. Learning more about their new costumes would delight readers, and particularly where Sue is concerned, it would be fascinating to see where her helmet and antennae come into play. Will it be strategic, a surprise new power reveal, or something equally unexpected? Readers will have to keep reading the Invisible Woman’s latest adventures to find out.
