The HyperDrive Turntable Is A 360-Degree Swivel Dock For iMac

At CES 2022, Hyper unveiled its new HyperDrive Turntable Dock with a 360-degree swivel mechanism designed for Apple’s brand new 24-inch iMac. Just like in 2021, the Consumer Electronics Show has been scaled back this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Last year, the event was held online, but organizers were hoping to resume normal activity in 2021. However, the rise of the Omicron variant put a spanner in the works, resulting in multiple big-ticket withdrawals from the event.

With the Omicron variant rising fast, a large number of companies and exhibitors have changed their CES plans this year, either withdrawing from in-person events entirely or reducing their physical presence at the venue. Dozens of companies, including Google, Microsoft, Lenovo, Waymo, GM, AT&T, T-Mobile, Amazon, TikTok, and Meta have withdrawn their in-person plans for CES 2022 and are going ahead with online keynotes and presentations similar to last year.

With CES 2022 still going ahead, Hyper has taken the opportunity to announce its Turntable Dock For iMac with a 360-degree swivel mechanism. It is one of the most quirky, but potentially useful gadgets on display at the show and has already been nominated for the 2022 CES Innovation Awards. In a press release on Monday, the company said that the new device will help people better collaborate on projects by easily sharing on-screen content.

A New Spin On An Apple Accessory

The HyperDrive Turntable Dock enables users to seamlessly adjust their viewing angles and comes with a whole host of ports, including 1x HDMI, 1x microSD/SD, 1x USB-C, and 4x USB-A. It also comes with a built-in M.2 SATA/NVME SSD enclosure with support for up to 2TB of storage. The enclosure features a push-to-release element, which makes it easy to insert and remove the expandable storage drive. The HyperDrive Turntable Dock is priced at $199.99 and will be available for purchase in the coming weeks.

Alongside the HyperDrive Turntable Dock, Hyper also announced the HyperDrive Thunderbolt 4 Power Hub, which combines a docking station with 3x Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports and a 100W GaN (Gallium Nitride) power source. Like the turntable dock, the power hub has also been nominated for the 2022 CES Innovation Awards. According to the company, the device will eliminate the need for the large power brick and will offer a single Thunderbolt hub and charger for improved portability and cleaner workspace aesthetic. Unlike the Turntable Dock for Apple’s 24-inch iMac, Hyper did not announce a release date or price for its Thunderbolt 4 Power Hub.
