The Grinch’s Enlarged Heart Literally Had A Real Doctor Choking

The Grinch may have a health condition, according to one doctor’s response to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Based on Dr. Seuss’ book of the same name, the TV special was released in 1966 and would go on to spawn multiple remakes. That includes 2018’s Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch and 2000’s live-action How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The original remains a Christmas classic, regularly airing on TV every holiday season. It tells the touching story of the Grinch discovering the true meaning of Christmas, and the joy makes his heart grow three sizes.

Unfortunately, a growing heart is actually a sign of an underlying health issue. While the Grinch isn’t really human enough to have the same medical profile as a typical patient, family physician Doctor Mike reviewed the heart growth scene on YouTube and was utterly shocked. Doctor Mike immediately began sputtering and coughing as soon as he heard about the Grinch’s heart and set about explaining the issue. Check out his quote below:

“I’m going pass out. The Grinch’s heart developed cardiomyopathy from exercise? No, no, no, no. Exercise helps the heart stay in a healthy shape. Most people don’t realize this. A big heart is a heart that’s not functioning well. There’s actually like medical conditions that we treat when it comes to a hypertrophied heart. That’s not good. That’s not a good thing. Thick muscle inside the heart is dangerous. A cardiac muscle is not the same as skeletal muscle. It’s different… Actually, if you have cardiomyopathy, like specifically hypertrophic, meaning big heart cardiomyopathy, you’re weaker and you become short of breath faster and you can’t pick up a giant sleigh full of gifts. So this is misinformation.”
