The Green Knight: 10 Other Movies & TV Shows Starring The Cast

The Green Knight is based on the Arthurian myth of the same title that follows Sir Gawain as he goes on a quest to find the Green Knight after a magical encounter with the supernatural being the year before. The A24 production is sure to have action, adventure, horror, supernatural elements, and even romance so there’s something for everyone.

The Green Knight also stars a great cast led by Dev Patel who’s best known for his work in both television and movies from Skins UKto Slumdog Millionaire. The cast also includes Alicia Vikander, Barry Keoghan, and Joel Edgerton. The Green Knight is set to be released in the summer of 2021 after a bit of a delay in the release, but fans can excitedly binge-watch each actors’ filmography as they wait for The Green Knight to be released in July 2021.

Dev Patel has had some great roles and starred in popular television series and movies over the years and one of his earlier roles was co-starring as Neal Sampat in Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. The show followed a newly inspired news team who sought to present their viewers with top-notch information instead of just vying for good ratings.

Patel portrays Neal who is mostly in charge of the show’s social media presence and more of a younger voice in the office. He’s the main character, Sir Gawain, in The Green Knight who goes on a quest to search for the Green Knight and fulfill his promise he made a year earlier.

Alicia Vikander: Ex Machina (2014)

Ex Machina was a relatively low-budget yet visually stunning sci-fi movie starring Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, and Oscar Isaac. Vikander stars as Ava, an AI robot that was created by CEO Nathan Bateman (Isaac). Bateman brings his employee Caleb Smith (Gleeson) to his secluded home to run a Turing test and figure out how humane Ava really is.

Vikander has starred in several movies from The Danish Girlto The Man From U.N.C.L.E.showing her range as an actor from drama to action-adventure. She portrays Lady Essel in the upcoming The Green Knight.

Joel Edgerton: Warrior (2011)

Warrior is a family drama that finds its center in the MMA fighting ring as two brothers train for the same tournament. Tommy (Tom Hardy) returns from his tour as a marine to reconnect with his father (Nick Nolte) and enlist him to help train for an upcoming Sparta tournament.

His somewhat underdog brother Brendan (Joel Edgerton) is able to make it into the tournament as well, meaning that the two brothers will fight against each other. Joel Edgerton will be portraying a Lord who interacts with Sir Gawain on his journey throughout The Green Knight.

Sean Harris: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015)

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise that continues to follow Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) as he tries to save the world and the ones he loves against a new threat in each movie.

This movie follows the formation of The Syndicate, a group of rogue operatives who teamed together with the intent of creating a new world order. Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) is a former MI6 agent and a leader in the new Syndicate. Sean Harris will be King Arthur in the new adaptation of the Arthurian legend.

Barry Keoghan: Dunkirk (2017)

Dunkirk is a World War II epic from Christopher Nolan that focuses on an event on the beaches of Dunkirk in 1940. Allied soldiers were trapped with approaching Axis German forces and both citizens and Allied forces had to help quickly evacuate.

Teenage ship worker George (Barry Keoghan) joins up with a civilian sailor (Mark Rylance) and his son (Tom Glynn-Carney) to journey to the beaches and help however they can. Keoghan has a role referred to as Scavenger in The Green Knight.

Erin Kellyman: The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (2021)

Erin Kellyman portrayed Karli Morgenthau in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in the new Disney+ series that continues Marvel storylines. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows Sam (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) as a duo after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Erin Kellyman doesn’t have a long filmography yet but she’s proved her acting talent in big roles from Solo: A Star Wars Storyto a mini-series of the musical LesMisérables and is set to portray a character called Winfred in the upcoming The Green Knight.

Kate Dickie & Ralph Ineson: The Witch (2015)

The Witch, also from A24, stars two of the actors who also will appear in The Green Knight. Kate Dickie will portray Guinevere and Ralph Ineson will be the Green Knight in the upcoming movie.

The two also appeared in the supernatural horror movie The Witchthat follows the story of an infant disappearing in the 1600s and his older sister Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy) being accused of witchcraft. Her parents (Dickie and Ineson) and siblings are banished from their Puritan colony in the slow-burn period piece.

Sarita Choudhury: A Hologram For The King (2016)

A Hologram for the King is a comedic drama that follows American tech company salesman Alan Clay (Tom Hanks) as he travels to Saudi Arabia to attempt to sell holographic technology to the King of Saudi Arabia.

After a drunken injury Clay wakes up in the hospital and meets his doctor, Zahra (Sarita Choudhury), and the two have an instant connection. Choudhury is portraying a character only referred to as Mother now in the upcoming The Green Knight.

Alicia Vikander: Tomb Raider (2018)

Tomb Raider is based on the original video games following Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) a capable and independent woman who sets off on a journey to find her missing father.

Croft joins a dangerous world not knowing who to trust as she looks for her eccentric adventurer father who is in trouble. Vikander might even be returning for a sequel to Tomb Raider to her first movie as Lara Croft.

Dev Patel: Lion (2016)

Lion is based on the true story of a young boy getting separated from his family when he gets lost on a train and travels thousands of miles across India forcing him to survive alone on the streets and in orphanages until an Australian couple adopts him.

Saroo (Dev Patel) grows up in Australia and after 25 years he decides to try to find his birth family. He uses Google Earth to try to piece together his scattered memories and find any member of his family in India.
