The Good Place Characters, Ranked Least To Most Likely To Win The Hunger Games

The Good Place Characters, Ranked Least To Most Likely To Win The Hunger Games

Most of the characters in The Good Place are flawed: some are constantly fearful and anxious, some are show-offs, and some are solely motivated to torture humans. In The Good Place, this makes for a funny and surprisingly light-hearted show. However, it is interesting to imagine Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, Michael, and Jason fighting to the death in The Hunger Games.

Some of them would have a pretty good advantage, being solely motivated to inflict pain on others, while some would be immediately disadvantaged by wanting to do the right thing (although this did not hurt Katniss Everdeen’s chances). But if the characters in The Good Place were to compete in The Hunger Games, who would come out on top? And who would falter at the first hurdle?

Chidi Anagonye

The Good Place Characters, Ranked Least To Most Likely To Win The Hunger Games

Chidi, although an intelligent and endearingly nerdy character in The Good Place, would definitely panic in The Hunger Games. He would be paralyzed by all the different choices he could make or strategies he could use to survive, and would likely be left deliberating on the podium well after all his opponents had successfully reached the weapons and supplies.

Additionally, poor Chidi fears even the most danger-free of situations, so being eliminated within the first 30 seconds would probably suit him better than facing the rest of the competition.

Jason Mendoza

Jason Mendoza tilting his head in The Good Place.

As a ‘pre-successful’ amateur dancer, Jason has the physical fitness to go far in The Hunger Games. However, unfortunately for Jason, he is not the most intelligent character in The Good Place and would likely get distracted by something or forget why he is there.

Since Jason can sometimes struggle to emotionally connect with some people, it’s also likely that he could end up being one of the first to die due to the other members’ alliances. Jason would probably make it to the Cornucopia, but get distracted and eliminated at that point.

Janet

Although Janet knows everything there is to know in The Good Place, unfortunately, her powers do not work anywhere else. Assuming The Hunger Games are being hosted in The Good Place, Janet would be more like a newborn baby than a super-powered ‘not-robot.’

Additionally, Janet literally has a self-destruct button, which is not ideal in this kind of competition. Janet would make it into the woods but would be eliminated pretty quickly by one of her more brutal and pro-active fellow contestants as soon as they worked out how to destroy her.

Victoria “Vicky” Sengupta

Acid snake in a skinsuit, Vicky has the potential to go far in The Hunger Games – especially since Vicky has been responsible for the torture several of the humans experience. However, it’s likely that she would probably die to one of the stronger contenders.

Since Vicky worked under Michael’s command in The Good Place, it’s likely that a similar sort of partnership would happen in the Quarter Quell. However, Vicky would probably end up getting betrayed since she could never really find a way to outsmart him.

Tahani Al-Jamil

Tahani smiling in The Good Place

Although Tahani is smart, physically fit, and competitive enough to win The Hunger Games, she would not be very willing to compete. Name-dropping, as Tahani frequently does in The Good Place, does not get you very far in The Hunger Games, and asking to speak to the manager would also be of little use.

Tahani is also not suited to the great outdoors and would be more interested in making floral arrangements from wildflowers than building fires, foraging for food, or making weapons and traps. Despite this, Tahani does have a real competitive streak so would not be eliminated immediately. She would most likely make survive for most of a day, before going on strike.

Shawn

In some ways, Shawn would be in his element in The Hunger Games. Shawn would have a great time setting traps for the other contestants and torturing them in any way he could.

However, Shawn would have very little interest in the game since his work ethic is also pretty appalling – if he does not want to do something, he simply will not do it. Shawn would last for a couple of days, but would likely be eliminated since he wouldn’t be as invested in the game as the other characters.

Doug Forcett

The Good Place fans were thrilled to meet Doug Forcett, who they expected to be more of a myth than a character on the show. However,  it turns out he lives a rather sad life, trying his very best to adhere to the strict goodness weighting of different human acts.

However, having had practice living off-grid and having a carbon footprint of nearly nothing, Doug is already skilled at scavenging and hiding away. Doug would stay away from the action and focus on survival. This strategy would serve him well for a while, but when he does eventually come face to face with a competitor, Doug would be eliminated, as he would not harm anyone else for fear of losing points.

Michael

Michael smiling and pointing at someone in The Good Place

As a fire squid and a demon, Michael has a lot of skills that would be useful in The Hunger Games. He is smart (and knows most of what there is to know about the world), adaptable, and capable of deception. However, although Michael has the skills to win The Hunger Games, he would very much struggle to harm anyone else having learned about philosophy and what it means to be ‘good.’

Michael would most likely form an alliance with some other contestants and wait out a fair amount of the competition. However, in the end, Michael would likely sacrifice himself to save his teammates (in his mind, solving ‘the trolley problem’).

Eleanor Shellstrop

Eleanor has street smarts. She works out multiple times that she is in The Bad Place, despite Michael’s attempts to deceive her. However, even though fans loved Eleanor in The Good Place, she does have a selfish streak, which would actually come in handy in The Hunger Games.

Eleanor would most likely start by trying to make it on her own for a while, before realizing she needs the help of others. Even though Eleanor would probably strive to destroy The Hunger Games, she would likely get eliminated towards the end due to a fundamental lack of wilderness skills and a tendency to complain rather than act.

Kamilah Al-Jamil

A close-up of Kamilah looking serious in The Good Place

Kamilah is the best all-rounder on The Good Place. As a Grammy winner, Oscar winner, Olympic gold medalist, and possibly even Banksy, Kamilah seems to excel at everything she tries. Although she is not particularly likable on The Good Place (at least through Tahani’s eyes), she is shown to be remarkable in terms of her achievements.

Kamilah would volunteer to take part in The Hunger Games and would manage to overcome every obstacle she faces. Kamilah would almost certainly take the crown and ‘winner of The Hunger Games‘ would just be another title added to her list of achievements.
