The Good Doctor Season 7 Sees Original Cast Member Exit Show For One Surprising Reason

The Good Doctor season 7 will see an original cast member, Hill Harper, exit the show for a surprising reason. Premiered on ABC in 2017, the medical drama follows Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome working at the prestigious St. Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose. Highmore is one of three remaining original Good Doctor cast members alongside Harper, who plays Dr. Marcus Andrews, and Richard Schiff, who plays Dr. Aaron Glassman at the hospital.

However, The Good Doctor season 7 is set to lose one of those original cast members. As confirmed by TVLine, Harper will not return to the show as the actor focuses on his campaign for the United States Senate. Harper’s campaign spokesperson shared the following statement explaining his exit from the show:

Hill Harper feels strongly that there is a crisis in American democracy — too often, government only works for the rich and powerful while the rest of us struggle to find a voice. Hill is dedicating his efforts full time to fixing that, and he’s running for the U.S. Senate as an active union member to give working people more of a voice in Congress.

More to come…
