The Golden Bachelorette Gets Major Update As Casting Rumors Heat Up

The success of The Golden Bachelor has led to much anticipation about a possible spin-off, The Golden Bachelorette, and now there’s a major update about the status of the show. The Golden Bachelor starred Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old retired restaurateur from Hudson, Indiana, on a journey to find the second great love of his life after the death of his wife Toni, with whom he’d been together for 43 years. Gerry found that love with Theresa Nist, a 70-year-old financial services professional from Shrewsbury, New Jersey. They were married on January 4, 2024, in a live, televised wedding.

According to Deadline, an announcement about The Golden Bachelor spin-off, The Golden Bachelorette, may be imminent. At the Realscreen event in New Orleans, Rob Mills, EVP, Unscripted & Alternative Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, revealed, “I think something will be coming soon.” However, he added that he wants to be “really careful” to make sure that The Golden Bachelorette can be as impactful as The Golden Bachelor. The Bachelor Nation website currently has a link to an application for contestants who hope to be on the show, which is another good sign.

While The Golden Bachelorette could star any older woman who’s ready to find new love, it would make sense to choose the new lead from the group of wonderful contestants from The Golden Bachelor. Two of the frontrunners for the role are runner-up Leslie Fhima and Faith Martin, who placed third. They both opened their hearts to Gerry and Bachelor Nation fell in love with them. Fan favorites Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts, who both have big hearts and hilarious personalities, would also be excellent choices. Really, any of the 22 amazing Golden Bachelor women, including Ellen Goltzer, Sandra Mason, Joan Vassos, Nancy Hulkower, Edith Aguirre, April Kirkwood, and Natascha Hardee, could be perfect for the role.

Even if one of The Golden Bachelor contestants isn’t selected to be the first-ever star of The Golden Bachelorette, ABC should consider creating a new show starring some of the women. Susan and Kathy in particular are a hoot on social media, and they could definitely have a successful reality television show. All of the Golden Bachelor women have made a huge impact, and they deserve to have a platform where they can continue to entertain and inspire people.

The Golden Bachelor was a very inspiring show that showed people that finding love is possible at any age. The women have become some of the most beloved contestants in Bachelor franchise history. They were a joy to watch. It’s a good sign that ABC is being careful to cast the perfect woman as the first-ever Golden Bachelorette. It would be very intriguing to see an older woman take the reins now in The Golden Bachelorette.
